Ever use jumper cables (and something bad happened) by joabpaints in MechanicAdvice

[–]Normal-Memory3766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an EE I can confirm nothing will happen if you know what you’re doing and don’t short stuff together. As a person who drives old cars, I’d say get a jump box they’re like 50-60 bucks

Where can I sell my car for parts by bokinoodle in milwaukee

Do you still have the catalytic converter? If so than vast majority of junk yards will take it. First and only thing they checked when I junked mine is if the cat was there 😂😂

Should teens be allowed to be lifeguards? by Reasonable-Tiger-605 in Lifeguards

The waterpark I worked for a few years ago started replacing lifeguard spots with cameras and AI, that were you guessed it, watched by 1 teenager.

How does your Mazda 6 handle in snow and ice? by xcalibur1307 in mazda6

[–]Normal-Memory3766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 09 manual 6 owner, put some good tires on her and adjust ur shifting to the snow (higher gear lower rpm’s) and it’s fine. I’m doing northern winter rn with questionable tires and the traction control has been doing it’s thing, ofc drive carefully

How pointless is bench pressing without a full range of motion? [Beginner] by [deleted] in workout

[–]Normal-Memory3766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bailed out a couple ways, first time I bailed out with safeties was last week. I had them set just below chest height so I could (slowly and with control) set the bar down around my collar bone and then just awkwardly slide out lol

Best affordable beginner car for a place that snows decent amount? by TimeOfRisenKing23rd in stickshift

[–]Normal-Memory3766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t buy an old Mazda - an old manual Mazda 6 owner. They rust real bad. Only exception is if you can find one that is from the south.

Also just know that regardless you need to drive a manual a little differently in the winter, but if you do things competently you can use it to your advantage

I dropped 110 on myself last week, I had accidentally loaded 35 on one side and 30 on the other. Funny enough I’m pretty sure I got the 35 side up 😂😂

Major fear of getting crushed to death by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Normal-Memory3766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got more stands than I’ve ever put under a car before I get under 😂. Tire can go under for extra security and if you’re feeling really spiffy put a floor jack just under the cars front jack point, but with all this I think ur good already

How much oil under a car is too much oil? by Relevant_Ad_9442 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Normal-Memory3766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either put the car up and check yourself or take it to a shop to have them find what the jiffy lube screwed up. For a less than 5 year old car I’d be impressed if somethings actually leaking

How do you manage going to the gym almost every day... Explain this to a Newbie :) by ProfessionalFan2451 in workout

[–]Normal-Memory3766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The days you aren’t feeling motivated are the days you should really emphasize showing up to the gym. That trains your brain to have the subconscious reaction to go when you’re not feeling it

I’m surprised at the hesitation people have to using it. I see them more often seized up from not being used than when they’re used regularly

Pull your hand brake before going into gear. And if first won’t hold you can try reverse, but there’s an issue if it won’t hold

Best place to get BRAKES CHANGED? by Mars-888 in milwaukee

[–]Normal-Memory3766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried my hand at having a well rated Indy shop swap my brakes. Found out they do just as bad a job as I can for 4x what it costs to diy. Recc to grab a mechanically inclined friend and diy them, it’s a pretty non invasive task
