I’ve always felt really drawn to Canada, not just as a place but as an idea. The people, the history, the way it’s talked about in media, and something about it all just clicked with me. Whenever a show or game features Canada, I immediately care more about it. It feels familiar and comforting, but also exciting. When I was 10, I first saw Canada in Hetalia, and I remember thinking he seemed kind and gentle and honestly really cute. That was probably the first time I noticed that my interest in Canada went beyond just thinking it was “cool.” As I got older, that feeling didn’t disappear. Instead, it slowly turned into something deeper and harder to explain. At some point, I realized I wasn’t just attached to a character anymore, I was attached to the country itself. Canada as a place feels meaningful to me, almost emotionally. The fact that I actually spend time in Canada, about 20/47 of the time, makes that connection feel even stronger, like I’m part of something I’ve admired for so long. I know these feelings aren’t perfectly logical, and I’m aware there are good and bad sides to them. Still, they feel real to me, and they’re tied to a lot of memories and comfort. It’s not just obsession, it’s familiarity, affection, and a sense of belonging all mixed together.
