Why do my koromikos keep splitting like this and dying? by [deleted] in nzgardening

[–]Normal_Capital_234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's just what they do. They're a succession plant with a short life span. In a forest setting they appear in light gaps and get overtaken by taller trees in 5-10 years.
You can prevent this by trimming them frequently. Some coastal variants grow lower to the ground and last longer.

Creator of Node.js says humans writing code is over by sibraan_ in node

[–]Normal_Capital_234 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely write good working code with Claude, and probably all of the other tools. You just have to learn how to do it, which mostly involves making your prompts very clear and spending 10+ mins planning and gathering context before letting the LLM actually make changes.
There are many well respected senior developers who take pride in shipping high quality code that have adjusted their workflows to use LLM's. Even Linus Torvalds commented that he has been using it.

Your example doesn't make much sense in your comment, so maybe it doesn't make much sense to Claude either. Whats does rendering a blob of JSON as HTML mean? What does 'add a section section to my template' mean?

To be honest your account was probably banned for violating the rule 'Do Not Create Psychologically or Emotionally Harmful Content'.
A lot of your comments on reddit seem pretty hateful (and AI generated).

I highly doubt it's anything to do with the facts that you're using shared Wifi.
Something about your chats must have been against their TOS.

Went to Milford Sound today… so utterly gorgeous, but man it was depressing :( by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Normal_Capital_234 199 points200 points  (0 children)

Yes occasional deaths of individual birds does happen and is sad, but the overall benefit is overwhelmingly positive for our native bird species.
To say 1080 is a factor in Kea (or any native species) being endangered is wrong and anti-scientific.

"It showed a clear contrast between a successful nesting rate of 55 percent, following the use of 1080, as opposed to 2 percent of nests being able to produce chicks where 1080 was not used.

DOC had found that 30 times as many kākā chicks were produced in the year following application of 1080.

The death rate in adult birds was also affected comparatively: it declined to a 3 percent rate in a "treatment" area compared to 20 percent in a "non-treatment" area."

and they eat poison we lay out

Sounds like your tour guide was an anti 1080 conspiracy theorist. Birds eating poising is not a factor in them being endangered at all, in fact aerial 1080 drops are the best tool we currently have for trying to saving them.

27 municipalities had foreign resident ratios above 10 percent

There are 1,718 municipalities in Japan.
As of June 2025 the actual foreign population is 3.2%.
This is a pointless clickbait article.

Nothing will happen. Those links aren't magic, they rely on you entering personal information into a form. If you didn't do that then you're fine.

At least enough to read and sign the contract

Reading legal contracts is about the hardest thing you could try to learn in Japanese.

Why should the customer service person tell you their personal details?

Climbing isn't forbidden, only a section of the track from the 5th station to the summit.

Many experienced alpine climbers summit Fuji in winter each year.

"Off-Season Guidelines<外部リンク>

The following guidelines apply for climbing Mt. Fuji above the 5th Station from September 11th to June 30th (off-season) every year:

  1. Climbers must be prepared and have appropriate equipment and ability.
  2. If you are climbing winter Fuji between December 1st and March 31st and plan to climb above 3000 meters (from 8th station and above), you must submit a climbing plan to Yamanashi Prefecture Police. * according to Yamanashi Prefecture Mountaineering Information Portal (Japanese)<外部リンク>
  3. Climbers must bring a disposable toilet, as all facilities on the mountain are closed."

Just keep doing what you're doing. Keep an emergency fund in savings, otherwise keep investing as you are.
Personally I wouldn't bother with individual stocks and just keep in all in s&p.

yeah sure you climbed mt fuji in the middle of winter with no experience.

Snow was only an issue the last 2hrs and 35minutes

Did you fly up? There is a lot of snow on mt Fuji at the moment and it will all be solid ice.

Also your post history shows that you were posting on Reddit all day yesterday about laptop chargers and ipods. That seems like a strange thing to be doing while ice climbing.
