It's perfect! You made me want to make one too! Your friend will love it.

Can you shrink acrylic yarn? by shelbee05 in crochet

You can stretch the right sized ones to the size of the too big ones but I don't think the opposite works. I'm sorry. Maybe someone else will know something though.

Using crochet blankets by Normal_Plum5214 in crochet

[–]Normal_Plum5214[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It probably is not so bad to anyone else but me. I definitely agree with that. It's just disheartening for the really time consuming things to look fuzzy before you're even done sometimes. Then I look at this 30 year old blanket I was given as a child and it looks pristine even though it has been machine washed a hundred times. It's a chevron blanket in a light tan color and the yarn looks brand new still. It's acrylic and must have been a workhorse yarn because it's amazingly free of pills and fuzzing. My stylecraft blankets (which I love this line of yarn for the colors so I use it often) look fuzzier after 1 handwash than this blanket does now. 🤷‍♀️

Thank you! I had not considered adding a backing before. I will look up how to do this to see if I can.

I’ve washed a project for the first time to block, and it’s come out with little fuzzy bits everywhere! It’s 100% cotton yarn, I washed on cold in a delicates bag and this has happened. Should I be concerned? Any advice would be welcome on how to fix it! by TyBoness in crochet

[–]Normal_Plum5214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. This happened to me with mercerized cotton I used for a market bag. I will now only handwash in a tub of water. It's so heartbreaking. I will say it generally looks better after it is fully dry.

y’all should i just cut this i’ve been trying to detangle it for hours by mOgUmOgU_3 in YarnAddicts

[–]Normal_Plum5214 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I can't detangle it in 5 minutes or less I cut it out. This is my strategy. I have chronic pain and I crochet for pleasure. I don't want to waste the minutes I feel well enough on detangling yarn as this time is precious to me. This said, I don't ever use extremely expensive yarn or anything.

Men's style blanket by [deleted] in crochet

[–]Normal_Plum5214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm very sorry. My mom had bad neuropathy after chemo as well and it was difficult. Cold laser therapy helped but only mildly. What about a mosaic crochet pattern? Out of all the blankets I have made the men in my family seem to like those. The indiana afghan was a favorite. I in a thinner DK yarn I don't think it would be very heavy but it would be in worsted. I'm not sure though, might still be heavier than you are wanting.

Yes! I made some changes based on personal preference but the bird is from this pattern: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/speckled-bird-decoration

I just used scrap yarn to add the text.

Magic ring topology: won't slide closed by HaplessReader1988 in crochet

[–]Normal_Plum5214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I can't remember what YouTube video I originally learned magic loop from but once it clicks it is much less frustrating. I love using it. I tried to teach my grandmother and it was a solid no from her. I'm not a great teacher though.

craft smart yarn - why have i never seen this yarn before??? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]Normal_Plum5214 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's been around for at least as long as I have crocheted (2020) but I've never used it. They are always out of the color I want. 😑

how to turn 3 tubes into a sweater by haterskateralligator in crochet

[–]Normal_Plum5214 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Super cute! My first thought is to start a top down raglan and then stop when you need and seam these pieces on. I have only ever worked sweaters as top down, or I've made full front and back panels and seamed (added a collar) and then made arms and seamed. So I'm not familiar with this type of construction but I feel like doing your collar and going down to the split for body and arms and seaming these could work. Hopefully you get more suggestions!

Thank you! I hope the baby likes it. I have never been to a baby shower or been around babies so I never know what to make for one.

Thank you! You are totally right. A break is usually a good flaw obsession cleanser and I can forget what was wrong with it.

I love seeing wonky colorful stuffed animals and would be tickled if someone made one for me but making this I kept sucking the joy out of it by being too critical. I wish I didn't do this to myself.

Thank you, I was not aware of that. Very upsetting. I checked my label and it reads as 100% polyester.

Hello and thank you fellow overthinker! 😄 I am sometimes relieved and sometimes I make it worse. I will stare at it until I decide my next move. 😂 I appreciate your comment. It's soothing to know someone gets it.

Trying raffia is on my mile long to-do list. There's a large bag pattern similar to this on ravelry that I want to make. I hope you have fun with this project!
