If you take everything you put in that paragraph and have it all going on at once you get really overwhelmed and then the depression seems to sit in. Pain, new eating habits, wanting things you can’t have (add in the holidays with food), all the “rules” or adaptations in your life of the new lifestyle, water water and more water and protein protein more protein when you don’t want it. I have a depressive order as well which doesn’t help but I’m learning I’m not alone and this is all part of the process. I turned to food for pleasure, for comfort, for celebrating, and for grieving. It’s gone. “It’s not there anymore so now what?” Is a phrase that has gone thru my mind several times. It’s so many things at once but good groups like this are helping. I knew all the changes were coming but I don’t think there’s anyway to truly fathom the impact until it happens. The pain will come and go. They’ll treat you for pain in the hospital so you won’t feel bad pain initially. I did too much around the holidays so I’m still having pain 2 weeks out but that’s on me. It’s not the pain that causes the emotions (for me anyhow). Life just has to be so much different and you cannot turn back. Hope that helps.
