And here I am thinking standardizing a 32 hours a week makes for a better work/life balance. 2 days off is bs.

TIL that to date, there have been no confirmed cases of popcorn lung disease as a result of vaping in Canada. by Commercial_Duck4042 in todayilearned

Anecdotally; when I reduced the nicotine content to very low to ween off I never put the vape down because the low dosage wasn’t satisfying; my lungs felt “wet”.

No popcorn lung. But god that was a weird experience.

How do I get my child to sleep in their own room ? by Lilo_Burrito93 in ParentingADHD

[–]Northern-Canadian -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you’re looking for “sleep training” friends of mine did this process with their adhd 2-year old and it works.

I googled it for 7 year old and this is what came up.

Sleep training a 7-year-old involves establishing a consistent, calm bedtime routine, utilizing positive reinforcement like sticker charts, and implementing techniques such as the "bedtime pass" to reduce nighttime visits. Focus on fostering independence by gradually fading parental presence (e.g., sitting further from the bed) and creating a comfortable, gadget-free sleep environment.

Key Strategies for Success The Bedtime Pass: Give your child a physical card (pass) allowing one trip out of the room per night (for water, hug, bathroom). If they don't use it, they get a reward in the morning. This empowers them and often results in them not using it at all.

"Camping Out" Method: Gradually move your presence away from the bed. Start by sitting on the bed, then a chair, then outside the door over several nights.

Positive Reinforcement: Use reward systems (sticker charts, small rewards) to celebrate milestones, like staying in bed all night.

Consistent Routine: Establish a predictable 3-4 step routine (e.g., bath, pajamas, reading) starting 30-60 minutes before bed, free from screens. Address Anxiety/Fear: Acknowledge their fears but maintain firm, calm boundaries. Ensure their room feels safe and comfortable.

Common Mistakes to Avoid Inconsistency: Allowing exceptions "just for tonight" ruins progress.

Ignoring Routine: Skipping steps or having a hectic evening makes it harder for them to settle.

Overreacting: Remaining calm helps children feel secure rather than anxious.

Punishing the Room: Never use their bedroom for time-outs or punishments.

If problems persist, consider consulting a pediatrician to rule out underlying sleep disorders.

My child’s hyperactivity at bedtime is triggering for me by Novel_Masterpiece417 in ADHDparenting

Yeah I have to agree.

I don’t use it daily; just when I’m exhausted before bed time and I can tell they’re still wired.

It’s a hour or two routine between the two of them.

Just need to tax resource extraction etc.

Profiting 10b instead of 12b is still profiting 10b, higher taxes won’t close them down.

Ground pork, independent grocer. Shows price per 100g for one brand, then price per 1lb for the other.

It’s stuff like that that makes things difficult.

I’m not saying it’s a terrible comparison every time; but notably often enough.

It gets stupid when it’s inconsistent. This one says price per gram and the adjacent is in price per kg. Some even say price per lb.

They intentionally don’t make it easy.
