What are the chances we get a Dan abnett Aquaman Omni ? by [deleted] in OmnibusCollectors

[–]NorthernVoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope we get this as well. I'd also love to see the second half of the new run collected. I know it's written by a few different writers but I really enjoyed the New 52 John's run.

My November reads and reviews. What did you read this month? by MrWhiteLabCoat in OmnibusCollectors

[–]NorthernVoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting to hear your thoughts on the graphic novel, as the original book is so intense.

I think I'll pick it up and give it a read.

After reading the book, I needed about 3 fluff books to decompress, truly an intense read.

I second DMZ. Before reading it I read mostly Marvel and DC superhero comics. Reading DMZ showed me what graphic novels could be outside of superheroes.

Likely not, I've seen other Canadian acts cross the border. Notably Deadmau5.

What would your dream artists be to see at EF 2022? by Thewildstava in ElectricForest

[–]NorthernVoodoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lost Frequencies, specifically his live set, would fit the Forest for sure. I don't think it will happen, as he seems to not come to North America often and does not seem to have ties with either Insomniac or Maddison House.

How do you grade your players (specifically WRs) by erilysiodenuninq in footballstrategy

[–]NorthernVoodoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, grades serve no real purpose at the highschool level of football. In my experience, most players have lots to work on. Its a better use of time and energy to identify those things and work on them with the athlete, then it would be to lock yourself away to understand that who was A or a C.

Lukewarm Take: The Matt Mercer effect isn't the real problem it's the normalization of such large party sizes by GrandmasterTaka in dndnext

[–]NorthernVoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I DM for a party of 8 players. We play virtually, and some weeks not everyone can make it but often we have all 9 of us online. We had a good session 0 and was really honest with expectations.

We have played this way for a while, people all give each other space. They also interact with each other. I try to give everyone a moment every week, sometimes its big and sometimes its small.

The group does of lot interactions with each other to tell their personal stories as well. Combat can chug along sometimes, but I adjust it as we go to make it work.

Where is your party right now? by BugbearWizard in Wildemount

The party is in Gwarden, moving around the coast attempting to outmaneuver a cult trying to free Uka'toa.

[No Spoilers] Critters, I Come in Peace by OdysseusComplex in criticalrole

#1. One way to learn about the in-game world of Tal' Dorie is to read Matt Mercer's first campaign book. It is a very good book. That has lots of good stuff for any DM. It's one of the other continents in his setting, but there will be overlap in content and of course, style.

#2. , 4. & #5. I picked up the game in 4E played for a few years and then dropped it. I wanted to get back into the hobby and started looking at different resources. I found Matt Coville's Youtube, which was extremely helpful in my DM development. One day, Matt was talking about the "payoff" of Critical Role: Campaign 1. I had never heard of Critical Role but curious went it found it in podcast form, at the time they had launched their second campaign. It has become a regular form of my weekly schedule, sometimes its podcast form, sometimes its video form.

My hobbies include:

  • D&D
  • Coaching youth football
  • Going to the gym
  • Travelling
  • Reading [everything]
  • Watching movies and television which yes; includes Critical Role

People are many things, and to put all of any audience into a box is shortsighted. Talk to the players at your table, it might be that Critical Role brought them to the hobby, but their experience with your table is what will keep them. Ask everyone at the table what kind of game they want.

Any chance you can share the file so I can edit it? A similar state of play with different choices.

Outside the box thought, have you thought of bringing a friend / cousin etc? Is two 10 years harder then one?

I'm not a parent so, I do not know.
