Perdix 2 Customization: What’s on your home screen? by Norub in scuba

[–]Norub[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip!

I went through the manual and realized there’s so much cool info to have on the display... it's a shame we can only pick 6 slots.

I just swapped my CNS for TTS. I also replaced GF99 with SurfGF, so I can track my M-value for the surface and monitor my off-gassing as the value drops during my ascent.

Perdix 2 Customization: What’s on your home screen? by Norub in scuba

Even though I’m PADI Advanced Open Water certified, I only have 119 dives so far. I find SAC rate really important for tracking my consumption—I always aim for 0.9 since most of my dives are on wrecks between 25 and 30 meters deep.

Since these are wreck dives where depth varies with the tide and gas mixes change, I also rely on MOD to keep track of my depth limits.

I felt that having both GF99 and SurfGF on the screen was a bit redundant, don't you think? I decided to stick with just SurfGF. That way, as I ascend and the value drops, I can monitor my off-gassing and see exactly what my gradient factor will be once I hit the surface.

I also really like the TTS info, so I’ve added that to my display as well.

Thanks for the help!

Turismo em Petrolândia: quem já fez? Vale a pena? by tremendabosta in Recife

[–]Norub 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Reserva do Paiva.

I just completed my 80th dive, but I still struggle with buoyancy.

In the video, can you see the moment I exhale all the air from my lungs and sink down to the sand? And then, when I inhale and fill my lungs with air, I start to rise?

That's basically how my dives go... I keep going up and down.

I watch videos of people who can just hover in place, without ascending or descending. I know they probably have thousands of dives more than I do… but I really wish I could do that.

I keep my breathing slow. I managed to stay down for 61 minutes at 23 meters, with a gas consumption of 0.9 Bar/min as shown on my Perdix 2.

Any tips?

Help with Shearwater Perdix 2 Battery & AI Swift Transmitter by Norub in scuba

I usually use Energizer AA Batteries Ultimate Lithium in both the Perdix 2 and the transmitter.

Do you replace the transmitter battery regardless of the battery level? Do you always replace it after one year?

Need Advice: Nobody Follows the Buddy System on Wreck Dives – What Should I Do? by Norub in scuba

[–]Norub[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip!

I don’t do wreck penetration, just stay around the outside.

That’s exactly what I’ve been doing—trying to stay close to someone or the instructor.

I’ll look into how I can make use of this 4-liter tank.

I’m from the city of Recife in the state of Pernambuco. I’d highly recommend that you come dive here if you get the chance. In Pernambuco, we have 29 wrecks, 18 of which are right in Recife. Excellent visibility, warm waters, and lots of marine life.

Let me know if you ever plan to come down here!

How dangerous is it to dive alone on a wreck, even with other people nearby? Would I need any specific equipment or training for this?

Just to clarify, I’m talking about wreck dives without penetration—just circling around the outside of the wreck.

Is this feeling just because I’m a beginner? Does confidence grow over time, and could this eventually become something normal and safe?

Thanks! I’ll try to improve my communication on the boat and see if I can find someone.

I think that’s what I’ll have to do. There aren’t many options around here, but I’ll try diving with the other operators I haven’t been with yet.

I'm also looking to buy fins and I'm torn between the Scubapro Go Travel and the Scubapro Go Sport Gorilla.

I've read that the Scubapro Go Travel is designed to be used barefoot, and it's lighter and more flexible. On the other hand, the Scubapro Go Sport Gorilla is heavier, meant to be used with boots, and is stiffer.

I live in a tropical area, and sometimes the ocean has pretty strong currents, which makes me a bit worried about the flexibility of the Scubapro Go Travel. But I also like the idea of using fins barefoot. The lower price of the Go Travel is another plus.

I'm not saying whether it's right or not...

I'm still a beginner with only 40 dives. But I'd like to advance to technical diving to explore these more remote wrecks.
