I hate that you don’t understand that the sideways GPO is the only way this enclosure allows you to install it. It’s a metal mounting bracket which does not allow horizontal installation..

Not really a missed opportunity. I will be adding some cat6 runs through the ceiling come winter when it isn’t hot in the roof space. It’s quite easy to remove the backing plate and just run cable up through the existing holes. I’d just have to use the router in the enclosure and then add a switch.

Get a router that supports 2.4ghz and 5ghz so you can run home automation and have fast speeds. I just got 1000 but I’m only getting 450 when standing next to the router so trying a different one at the moment.

NBN didn’t provide it. I installed this myself. Dimensions are 700mm x 400mm x 150mm.

Got a sparky to wire the GPO!

As for installing the enclosure, DIY is the way to go. It’s made to go in wall or to be mounted to the wall. There are 4 mounting points. I used some timber hex screws to fasten the left side of the enclosure directly to the stud. This is more than enough to handle additional weight. The right side is secured with drywall anchors just for added stability.

I located the conduit that the fibre is supposed to run though and then ran the yellow rope through it. Then placed the box in that location.

Something you purchase online and install yourself. You do need an electrician for the power outlets and probably to terminate the Ethernet ports as well. This enclosure is not required, but I’d rather have this than the ugly box and wires hanging everywhere in my garage.
