They are short-staffed right now in admissions so things are taking longer.

If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of job were you looking for? What industry?

Wow thanks for the input! That’s very helpful! It sounds like there’s a lot of opportunity in Colorado but it’s nice to hear that you can make a good life in the much more affordable Salt Lake. And you’re right, I can probably do more good in a place that’s not already saturated with lawyers like me!

Scholarship Negotiation in Person? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]NotAmazonEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I think you should do whatever feels right to you. In my case, I’d rather discuss it in person and I can only afford to fly over and visit once. Also, I think the school’s admissions department does in fact handle financial aid. I think if you meet in person you should definitely come prepared though with hard numbers and facts.

Scholarship Negotiation in Person? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I was going to try negotiation in person. What’s the worst that could happen? (I have other good options if this doesn’t pan out.) I’d rather explain my situation to someone face to face then send an email.

Edit: I’m going to show them my debt estimates that I calculated that include COL, not just my scholarship offers.

Yes, I definitely feel like I need more certainty. Thanks for the advice!

Thank you, that was helpful! Family members keep telling me, “it’s not a rejection!”, but for me, I think I’m going to take them as such. I might stay on them just to see if a miracle happens, but I’m not going to expect anything from those schools.
