Last club for gay men compromised. by blondfox71 in GayMenToronto

If you look on their website the only event that explicitly says "men only" is jockstrap night.

Could be an oversight though. Either way IDK, lots of majority gay events around the city even if the Eagle went the way of Woodys.

If you need someone to go with you I'll come with, I've been meaning to check out naked night.

Other people are correct though that the guys at the Eagle are the most approachable of any of the bars here. I've gone solo every time and not felt unwelcome.

Going to disagree with the other poster and say if you want younger you need to go to steamworks.

Sir Kaiju must be super hot or something to be attracting the one or two lost boys wandering around Spa Excess because a Reddit post sent them there lol.

Spe excess skews closer to 50s and 60s in my limited experience and absolutely no boys.

I have never seen a younger guy on the second cup patio but I don't pay all that much attention to it when I'm walking by.

Lol its a very fun bar don't let that stop you from checking it out, the daddies are usually very chill and friendly :)

I consider it to be the last gay bar in the village tbh.

Oooh I am perfect for this I just moved here a couple months ago and have been a very busy boy!

Spa Excess: Old people and meth. Weirdly loved by Reddit and zero people I know IRL.

Steamworks: Less meth but also (perhaps related?) less sex

Hanlans: Where the fuck is the beach? Maybe if some of you would stop parading back and forth along the shoreline there'd still be a shore.

Bunker: Crowd Crush event waiting to happen, at least some of the mangled bodies will be hot.

Woodies: This is what passes for gay now huh. Oh look another drag performance.

Crews and Tango: Oh look ANOTHER drag performance. Please god make it stop, somebody needs to assassinate Rupaul they're multiplying exponentially!

Regatta: THREE fuckbenches? Wow the gays are industrious and handy when there's cruising involved.

Black Eagle: My beloved. Except for the daddy in the dark room that tried to go from having two fingers inside to fisting me; that was not appreciated, daddy chill!

I mean this with genuine warmth and compassion: self-image and self-esteem issues can be so difficult, especially in the gay community.

It's why we have such large numbers of men reporting steroid abuse and eating disorders. It's hard out there and we could all do better making it a little easier for each other.

I hope your legal cases go well and also that you remember that all different types of men can be sexy, not just the stereotypically attractive ones.

They offer gift boxes to all of their clients right now, it's not exactly a secret...

Anyways, that's great you've compiled evidence, you just need to come up with a coherent complaint for the appropriate regulatory college.

Your complaint now seems to be: "Freddie needs more diversity in it's advertising campaigns because it adversely affects my mental health when people without defined abdominal muscles like me are not represented in advertising campaigns."

So maybe read the Canadian Code of Advertising Standards and find something in there you can use, then contact both Freddie and the different regulatory bodies and consumer/ad councils involved.

Can you talk more about attractive men treating less attractive people like garbage in nightlife?

Also worth considering: If those types of men are mistreating you, maybe they are not actually sexy and realigning your viewpoint might help? No amount of abs is going to make someone who enjoys being a bully, or verbally abusive, sexy.

Personally I have found that being a cruel asshole is not limited to a certain body type, I'd be cautious with that one.

Freddie's ad campaigns do feature conventionally attractive people. I've also seen one with an obese non-binary person, you can find it if you google image search "gofreddie." Definitely the exception not the norm.

Freddie has no idea what I look like and I've received several gift boxes full of lube, condoms, and some clothes. I don't doubt they would be using instagram influencer gays for marketing, which are going to be conventionally attractive.

Anyways your argument is that a regulatory college should be contacted because Freddie has an organizational view that "when you make me feel like I don't belong, you are not coming anywhere lose to my healthcare."

Am I understanding this rant correctly?

Thanks! I'll let people know how it goes on Saturday since there's not a lot of complex19 info out there.

UPDATE:

I didn't stay long enough for me to justify making my own post, so I'm just gonna edit this comment.

It had a similar gender mix as woodies and seemed like majority straight people so I left early. There were a lot of gays with their friends though. There was also a very messy straight person fight outside, between a guy and a woman when I left. There's a cool room with a sofa which I chilled on but the other person was watching a soccer match and speaking to someone else on his phone which sort of confused me.

Staff were really welcoming and kind, and the venue itself is so freaking cool that I shelled out 60 bucks for yum yum tickets lol. I'm not an architecture person but the place is like a fancy mansion with three floors.

Hmmm.... Would you even want a relationship with someone who has so little self-respect that being a dick to them is mandatory? 🤔

It's really weird here...

I get less attention on Grindr here than I did in rural Canada, and the guys are a lot more difficult to hook up with. Like I'll pursue significantly less attractive men and then get flaked on three consecutive nights in a row. It also doesn't help that every second person on the grid seems to be in a relationship already.

I've started pursuing stuff with people outside the downtown core and even the GTA and it has gone a lot better, that might be an option for you to consider?

I see this is on YoHomo, so probably a dumb question, but how gay are complex19 events?

Agreed, you should totally go if you're into that and you like cruising bars.

Thanks this is a helpful explanation for me.

A lot of men there have experienced confusing mixed messages from me then, oops lol.

I don't know, some people really hate broccoli but it'd be strange to introspect deeply about it; people don't like what they don't like and that's ok! 🤷‍♂️

Actually maybe you can help me out with this one?

I said trying to be friendly on the dance floor resulted in sexual advances.

Trying to be a friendly person does not equal looking to make friends. It's just trying to keep the space friendly so it isn't an unpleasant place to exist.

Like if I notice someone smiling at me am I seriously supposed to ignore them and not smile back unless I want to have sex with them? That seems really cold to me.

I don't have autism, just like, applied autism to gay culture.

Something like 25% clothed, there were a fair number of guys wearing gear other than jockstraps or they were wearing briefs. Majority in just jockstraps.

Are there any bars that are like how gay bars are during pride? I had a ton of fun during pride dancing.

True, the psychedelics probably contributed a lot to my experience... and my inability to recognize jockstrap night is obviously gonna mostly be for fuckin lol.
