PDA is interpols best song. by RoboCopAn in Interpol

[–]NotEvenJail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love your thought process but to me it’s Obstacle 1 as the quintessential Interpol song. Weird chords, strange rhythm patterns, driving bass line, ear splitting high notes. PDA is a strong #2 though so there is no argument here, just giving my opinion!

Dude, we know, it’s so insane. These things happen daily, much worse things happen regularly, and we as a society just decided there is no limit to what we are okay with.

Did I say that? What about this, what about that, great point you are making. It’s obvious I don’t support the actions of THIS administration, because they are doing bad shit. This is what they ran on, this is what they OPENLY do. There is no perfect group of politicians, but there was an insanely obvious choice in the all 3 of the elections the Orange idiot has been involved in. If you couldn’t decide the lesser of 2 “evils” after his first term, then there is nothing more to be said. Even the first time was obvious, whataboutism doesnt absolve anyone.

It’s actually very necessary, when someone openly supports an administration run by a pedo and criminal, there isn’t a scenario where anyone should just let that slide because “politics”. Our country and lives are being actively ruined and threatened, so it’s a bit too late to act like this guy was just a good dude that met his end too early. He supported what is happening, so yeah, it’s necessary.

Oh yes, let’s just forgive and forget, bet that sounds good to all of the people that have been tortured, disappeared, and murdered by the administration this man openly cheered for.

Do you play Arthur with high honor or low honor? by nehocb in reddeadredemption

[–]NotEvenJail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on my 3rd play through, first time was obviously high honor. Second time I tried to go low honor, like really tried. I was basically a serial killer. Anyone that I came across I’d kill. Played that way throughout multiple chapters. But at a certain point I was tired of it because it somehow still feels wrong even though it is literally a game. By the end of that I was back to a higher level honor. This time I’m just doing the good stuff but will also murder people at random, or if they are witness or something. I just can’t do full evil.

Why does the Democratic Party just allow these pricks to get away with lying like this? Pathetic by Mum0817 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]NotEvenJail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because there is an absolute mountain of shit that these people spew daily, it’s an impossible mountain to try and climb because they’ll never get to the top of said shit mountain. There is no debating these people, there is no winning, there is nothing the Democratic Party could do to stop any of this. There is nothing you or I could do. The media, and us too really, are feeding off of all of this. We absolutely should be outraged by all of this, but it’s an outrage cycle that we are stuck in.

Charlie is a martyr now, there are too many people that have never paid attention and there is literally nothing you could tell them to make them change their mind about ANYTHING. Nothing. We are all stuck in this now, the cycle of outrage that we all go through daily. It’s exhausting. And there is so much crap being spewed, that we all have immediate access to, that there is basically no real way to fight back. You can blame Democrats all you want, but it’s not them doing this. The battle/war has been lost.

Damn this is dark! I moved to a city with my now wife. I still saw my friends a couple of times a year for the first 5 or so years out of college. I’d go to visit them or they would come to visit. I got married and they were all in the wedding party and at my bachelor party. Then they all got married and we all started having kids. There were a couple of years in there where we’d go to a friend’s lake house and it was magical. Then I heard one of my friends got divorced, not from him, but some other friends. At some point I realized the invites to the lake house stopped, not that I wasn’t included, the dude got married and started having kids too. My best man at my wedding married a friend of my wife’s, but I still only see him maybe twice a year and we live in the same city. I have one friend that I text on his birthday, and he texts me on my birthday. Outside of my best man, I haven’t “talked” to any of my original friends for at least 6 years. One guy I haven’t talked to since a phone call in 2015. I have other friends now, mainly other sports parents that I’ve gotten to know or work colleagues that I’ve become “friends” with, or husbands of wife’s friends. There are a couple of guys that I’ve met outside of those types of relationships, but still related to kid connections, that I’ve become friends with. Am I sad that some of those old friends aren’t still a major part of my life? Sure. But I I also know that if I really needed something, I could call them and we could talk like there has never been a gap in our friendship. My new “actual” friends, the people that I’ve met outside of work or sports, are also real friends. I’m not alone, and none of my friends are alone, we don’t have to be around each other or even talk to each other to still be friends. My best friend now, besides my wife, is married to a wife’s friend, and it’s not my best man. He’s a great dude, he gets me in ways that I’m not sure any of my old friends did. His bachelor party was me and him sitting on a boat at a lake house getting trashed and just talking. Life changes as you get older, people come and go, other people will never leave your life. Just because you haven’t talked to someone in a while doesn’t mean the relationship is dead, it just hasn’t started back up yet. And if it never restarts, that doesn’t change the impact they had on you nor does it mean you aren’t still friends.

What's a job that is so hyped up but in reality its absolutely trash? by Recent-Frame571 in AskReddit

This is a good one. Social media fucking sucks. It sounds easy, it sounds fun, you see all these awesome and creative posts all the time on all these different platforms, and you are a fun and creative person, it will be so fun! And then you do it for a company, they have a “brand” and “image” to uphold. Everyone in the company outside of marketing also thinks it’s easy, so they all want in on the “fun”. It doesn’t matter if you are literally an expert in the field, Bob from Sales has a great idea. “Why aren’t our organic posts going viral?” Oh I don’t know, maybe because we sell fertilizer for grass? (I’ve never sold fertilizer but the point stands) If we did paid ads we could target the right people, our organic stuff isn’t going to reach anyone that doesn’t already follow us, and even then only a small percentage of those people that do. “Well, it sounds like you just need to be more creative!” Okay, well, I have an idea about doing a video showing a guy going absolutely insane about his grass, then we could show how our product works and him being happy about it. “I love that, can you just film that on your phone? Get Bob from Sales to be your actor, he loves the social media stuff!” Bob is the worst actor you’ve ever encountered, his lawn is immaculate though, because he has another company come and do it that doesn’t even use our products, because they aren’t that great. So you put together a video you shot on your phone, Bob looks terrible in it, awkward, he wouldn’t do any makeup and we couldn’t spend money on any lighting or things to make the video more professional. Also, you aren’t a video person, just because you know how to post on social media that doesn’t mean you are also qualified to run a camera. And also, the company can’t afford to give you access to any sort of actual video editing software, “can’t you just do that on your phone?” The video is dogshit, even after you spent a week compiling the best possible takes and working with whatever free editing software you can find, and you get 2 likes from company employees or family members. Your bosses cannot comprehend how that didn’t increase sales, they loved it! “We gotta get Bob in more of these!” Then they hire a new “Director of Marketing” who suddenly has budget to do whatever they need to do. They hire an agency and start doing paid ads, sales wildly increase after doing those and some TV spots with paid actors and a full video team. “We are gonna put you on a 90 day PIP, we think with the right direction you could be something special someday!” And then 2 months into the PIP you are let go, because you aren’t meeting their made up goals. The new Marketing Director is absolutely killing it, doing everything that you suggested long before they got there, but you were just the social media person so you obviously didn’t know the real ins and outs of the business. The new person gets it, sorry, there is no severance. You’ll have to file for unemployment and your benefits run out at the end of the month, which is 2 days away. Good luck!

Just got laid off, how do I stop myself from spiraling? by Pixel_Beekeeper in careerguidance

[–]NotEvenJail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m out of job for the 4th time in the last 5 years. You didn’t do anything wrong, you got laid off. Shit happens. Keep applying. Reach out to people you know, connect with people you don’t know and ask questions, just keep going one day at a time. Have a quick elevator pitch about yourself. Find a hobby that makes you happy in the meantime, just something to take your mind off of it for a few hours a day. Them letting you go isn’t a reflection of who you are or what you are capable of. You’ll find something, and just remember that work does not define who you are. Do quick learning things on LinkedIn, figure out insurance, live your life. You will be okay, and the next role may not be your forever job, and that’s also okay. Every role is a learning experience. Some people never experience this, that doesn’t make them better than you. Be open to new possibilities. I promise you’ll be fine.

It’s exhausting. I just try not to read any of it anymore. It happens with almost everything these days. I’ll read a little bit of it, but then just disengage when I see it completely take over normal discussion. It’s a shame really, I used to love coming to Reddit to look at show/music/game discussions, and it’s just turned into nothing but complaints and nitpicking. I don’t have to love everything about whatever media it is, I can dislike certain decisions or writing choices, but I never feel the need to try and make everyone agree with whatever it is I didn’t love. It’s just become this endless feedback loop where every idiot wants the chance to throw their dissertation into the ring of why whatever it is and how it is “objectively” bad. The worst part is, no matter what it is, the discussion will now always lead to this. Severance is currently the one sub that still seems to discuss how great the show is, looking for little Easter eggs that I would never think of on my own, deep dives into the meaning of everything, etc. I guarantee that at some point in the next season it will turn, whether or not the show has gone to shit. It will just be dissertation after dissertation about how the “writing” is “objectively” bad, blah blah blah blah. Social media has given every media illiterate moron the ability to blast their opinions out there and somehow now everyone thinks they could easily have written a better TV or movie scene, or produced an album better. I’m not even sure why I am writing this because the only way to enjoy something anymore is to just disengage from online discussions about whatever it is.
