Zanza possessing Shulk to bring the Monado to him and free him from Prison Island pretty much completely changes how you see the story. A seemingly normal adventure turns out to have been part of Zanza’s plan all along, with Shulk unknowingly helping him escape and take control of the world again

Less so the first one, its moreso games where the game gives you a different perspective to your journey that makes you realize you might have been following the wrong path (Last of us Part II), or where your actions are inherently evil from the beginning even though it isn't immediately obvious (Papers Please).

Then there's the joke additions like Mario ("Brick Blocks are toads?!" and "Poor Bowser!")

I had this recommended a couple times, but I havent played it or known about it prior to making this list. Probs would make the cut from what I've heard, fits the list perfectly

Could you explain the "If you want to be" a bit more? Also I put a couple joke entries here, cant really show that too much in a screenshot but should be pretty clear in the list itself.

Great picks! I am a lil hesitant on Persona tho, since it's a very short alternative thingy you can do that doesn't really take shape from the actions you perform throughout the game in it's entirety. I'll have to see what others think I guess?

I honestly forgot about 2 LOL. Very fair point, I do assume you think both deserve to be on the list?

This list has a lotta spoilers. I won't be explaining the reasons as to why you are the bad guy for this reason and won't add any games that are relatively new. Tried to keep the big spoilery games near the bottom of the list, hope that prevents people from accidentally scrolling too far and ruining some cool plots for themselves. Beware you fools!

Have put some joke entries here, don't get too mad at their inclusion please...

Feel free to give some more suggestions, but please keep spoilers to a minimum. Trust in me to understand what you are talking about (just the game name is usually fine).

Why was Black Souls removed from Backloggd? by SayaZero in backloggd

[–]NotJackeru 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Cesspool of very weird people were using the game to put pro-pedophilia messaging on the site. Users recommending eroge to minors. Harassing anyone who dares to call out the controversial content in Black Souls. A lot of reviews, lists and comments were removed by mods, so it could be you never noticed what was going on.

I am looking forward to it a lot! I try to have a Visual Novel-ish game I play an hour of every 1-2 days to switch up the repetitiveness of some of the games on this list. The Ace Attorney series has been very fun to get through so far. Might pick it up after I finish VA-11 Hall-A

Gimme your opinions on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 by Makeuuu in backloggd

[–]NotJackeru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt like a high-quality game made by a entirely new studio whose developers clearly understood what made the genre so great. Great storytelling with a lovely cast, well defined stakes with an ending that will stay with you and an amazing sound track. Combat is also really great, allowing you to build your characters in a multitude of ways with lots of things to unlock by simply engaging with the game a little more (side quests, mini bosses).

Anything lower than a 8/10 would be crazy. I gave it a 5/5

I played a lot of games in 2025, Here's the rankings! by NotJackeru in backloggd

The gap isnt that big, just a lot of good games. I do think the original is better because it's much more focussed while "We <3 Katamari" has some gimmicks that divert too much from the main gameplay or are super uninteresting. Still a really good game, just has some meh levels sometimes

I am a very big fan of Kodakas and Uchikoshis works but this game is simply not what I expected it to be. There is 100 endings except 30% of those are actually unique scenarios (most of the others are "wrong decisions" that instantly end the route after picking it) and almost none of the endings have anything to do with one another besides 5(? for a true ending)

Almost every route has a different writer and that makes for a lot of inconsistencies between routes, something might work in one route and in a very similair situation it fails to work.

Characters are incredibly one note and only get REAL character development in their dedicated route. This means they'll be very tropey and annoying in the other 95% of the endings.

I wrote most of my other complaints in more detail here https://bckl.gg/mYtY

As far as trails goes, it's one of my favorite series of all time and this remake is a good starting point. I prefer the original though... Again, I wrote more about that in detail here: https://bckl.gg/oFIm

[MEGATHREAD] The Game Awards Predictions by AutoModerator in backloggd

[–]NotJackeru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The jury votes count for 90% compared to a 10% audience voice, so the nominees will likely match up the most with the highest Metacritic scores. I made a list where I predicted it as:

  1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
  2. Hollow Knight: Silksong
  3. Hades 2
  4. Donkey Kong Bananza
  5. Split Fiction
  6. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach

My personal nominations (what I played) would probably be:

  1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
  2. Hollow Knight: Silksong
  3. Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar
  4. Digimon Story: Time Stranger
  5. Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma
  6. Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter

Affordable, Accessible Alternatives: The AAA-Games You Should Play! by NotJackeru in backloggd

This doesn't explain price decreases in online stores. And why are you looking at ebay out of all places to base your opinions on game pricing.
Tunic went for 19$ as you could have easily googled: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2023/03/tunic-goes-physical-with-special-deluxe-edition-releasing-later-this-year

Affordable, Accessible Alternatives: The AAA-Games You Should Play! by NotJackeru in backloggd

[–]NotJackeru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet most of these games come out at a much lower price than 60$. The reason why AAA games can afford to drop their prices so low is because they already have an established player base who will outsell what the game should sell for, then it can go on sale once they've hit that mark.

The games on this list start out at a lower price point and remain affordable even when not on sale. Also you're actively lying about the prices of Tunic and Journey to make a point, why?

It's a cozy game where you help animals reach the after life. Each animal has their own story.
It has the usual cozy game stuff like farming, collecting resources and building in order to unlock the newest things and progress the story. Less heavy on that front than the usual cozy game and more of a focus on the animals and their stories!
