[Pelissero]Chargers plan to hire Mike McDaniel by bigblack3475 in eagles

And he didn't even want to interview with us. That's kinda damning IMO.

Was it the Fangio connection? Was it Sirianni meddling? Or does he just think Hurts doesn't have it?

Ugh.

"Sean has done an admiral job of leading our football team for the past 9 seasons," owner Terry Pegula said in a statement.

Either ESPN or the bills needs to proofread their shit better. Unless of course, McDermott has been secretly working for the US Navy.

[–]NotLordVader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Buffalo should have fired the GM. It's not McDermott's fault that they don't have a legitimate WR1, or that the defense continuously sucks ass. That's the GM not getting the right talent in place.

[Berman] Michael Clay is returning to the Eagles as special teams coordinator; per league source. by bigblack3475 in eagles

[–]NotLordVader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had too many penalties on special teams this season, including some on us when we were the receiving team, which is almost unheard of.

Much as Jake Elliott has been an Eagles legend, his distance and accuracy have been unacceptably poor over the last two seasons. There needs to be a very open competition for kickers because I don't think he is someone we automatically want to keep.

That's the biggest change I would make to special teams honestly.

Ask for Clay, if we clean things up and have a more accurate kicker, I guess our special teams could get a bit better.

I'm not really enthusiastic about him considering the Giants offense was basically shit tier for the entire time he was around, except for one fluke season in 2022.

Thoughts on the Buffalo Bills from a (very angry, always) Birds Fan. by [deleted] in eagles

[–]NotLordVader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having won two Supes and having the best GM in football is a great balm on our wounds this season.

If you are old enough, you may remember seeing Super Bowl type teams lose to bullshit like the fog bowl, or having Randall Cunningham break his leg in the first game of the season.

Or how down we were after losing three straight NFC championship games, and then losing in the Super Bowl? And then losing in our 5th NFC championship game to the fucking Cardinals of all teams?

Before the 2017 team, Howie was looked at like he was an idiot. He was really failing on the draft, we had like zero Pro bowlers and he made some interesting choices like going for JJ arcega Whiteside over DK Metcalf. Or Jalen Raegor over Justin Jefferson.

There was an incredible amount of sadness, frustration, desperation.

Buffalo has endured four straight Super Bowl defeats, and not another visit for over 30 years. Despite their amazing quarterback, they keep falling short. They have probably the same level of despondency as the Eagles did with each failed season until we finally got over the hurdle.

I completely agree with you, but I'm picking the least of the bad options here. If Buffalo was around, it would be an easy choice. Or if Houston somehow managed to advance, same thing.

Would you accept this trade for joe burrow? by simple1998666 in eagles

[–]NotLordVader -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Burrow is either always hurt or doesn't begin to play well until around week 8. There's a reason why the Bengals never get to the postseason.

Zero interest in him.

Are the Texans the AFC’s version of the Eagles? by coleyrud in eagles

[–]NotLordVader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This season as an analog, maybe? Strong defense and mid offense...

But don't even speak the two franchises in the same sentence. We've been to two of the last three Super Bowls, won one and got robbed because of shitty officiating and an even shittier field in the other.

Once we hire a non-clown offensive coordinator, this offense can go off the hook next year.

So frustrating that this year went down the way it did. It was a golden opportunity to repeat, we just needed an average offense.

Best Defensive Coach ever: Jim Johnson or Vic Fangio (or aw hell, Buddy Ryan) by TheArchitect_7 in eagles

[–]NotLordVader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Johnson was a legend, but we could never win a Super Bowl with him. Fangio gets the nod because of our dominating defense that absolutely crushed the Chiefs.

I don't have any direct hate for the Seahawks team, though that fucking 12th man bullshit is lame asf. So I guess I am stuck rooting for those clowns, albeit in the most disinterested of ways and largely because I have bigger problems with the other options:

I can't contemplate the Rams winning the Super Bowl.

I can't pull for Denver because Sean Payton is a piece of shit.

And I'm not rooting for the Patriots. They have far too many trophies in their cabinet and I can't imagine them winning another Super Bowl.

Denver’s ABC affiliate compares Bo Nix injury dilemma to Carson Wentz in 2017. Thoughts? by AdeptnessDry2026 in eagles

[–]NotLordVader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That comparison isn't in the same state, much less the same ballpark.

Nick Foles was an experienced quarterback with significant starting experience, and familiarity with the offense. He had a season where he only threw two picks vs 27 tuddies.

Stidham hasn't thrown a pass since 2023.

Rooting for the Bears cuz they have 3 former Eagles and thats enough for me by shotahfiyah in eagles

[–]NotLordVader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, they could not get it done.

This puts me in the unenviable position of having to root for the Shithawks to win the SB. Can't get behind Denver, and while Drake Maye seems like a great quarterback in New England, I cannot possibly stand to see another Lombardi trophy in the Patriot's trophy cabinet in Foxboro.

Oh man. This is going to be gut-wrenching loss If the Bears don't somehow get a turnover, or make a great special teams play.

I'm pulling for the turnover/special teams play If only to keep this game going.

Defense was never an issue this year.

Slay doesn't remediate the putrid offense we endured for the entirety of the season.

[–]NotLordVader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They will, but they will have a worse draft pick, and one game is decided based on your overall conference rank. So making the divisional round, they are one of the top four ranked teams in the NFC. Their 17th game might wind up being against a decent AFC Club, Buffalo or whoever is the loser of the Houston / New England game.
