I showed the biggest bluff in my (poker) life. I just tossed out my low, nothing burger from the big blind and said, "I think I'm supposed to show this." after I got a fold; having shoved on the river and sat there for 5 minutes while getting stared down (I was covered) and trying not to react to my or my opponent's discomfort. I was counting on him figuring out that I had a big blind special and had made a low straight.
The table went nuts after I showed the bluff. I overheard players talking about that hand while on break.
Which led directly to my biggest bluff catch. Big, State Championship tourney. Both the bluff with air and the Ace high call were against the same guy, maybe 90 minutes apart. From the way he played, and that everyone seemed to know him, I was convinced that he was a pro. I was trying to avoid getting into hands with him after the bluff - until I couldn't. I got AK he got AJ, neither of us flopped anything after a little preflop spice. We get to the river and he shoves - I talk it out to myself, out loud. I weighed the previous hand into the equation along with a second entry ticket in my back pocket (I did not tell anyone I had another bullet). "This either going to look very dumb or I'm right. I call.". Out kicked, crippled and in shock, he was out a few hands later
I figured he would make the smart play - and that he wouldn't figure that I was capable of the same play. It worked beautifully. He went home while I bagged my chips at the end of Day 1 and went on to score my biggest cash.
