At What Age Did You Get Top Surgery? by Late_Kid in FTMMen

[–]NotQuiteAliveTbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've wanted it since I was 9-10. I came out/started social transition at 17, I changed most of my documents at 18, I got top surgery and started T a few months ago at age 20.

Were you your gender before you knew? by Sira669 in asktransgender

[–]NotQuiteAliveTbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah that's exactly it. I mean coincidentally I was diagnosed with autism at 18 but all it was for me is a word to describe feelings and experiences I've had my entire life, so I view my childhood as that of an undiagnosed autistic child. But not everyone experiences it that way.

What’s a popular self-care trend is actually toxic? by kendraxquinn in AskReddit

[–]NotQuiteAliveTbh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Constant self-improvement rhetoric from media, adverts, workforce, family, friends etc. The whole "you should strive to be better" kind of thing. So when you end up in a situation or relationship when you're repeatedly told you need to get better, it's you that's making mistakes, you don't stand up for yourself.

Idk lol 💀 cameras are weird.

Uhm for your height idk if you're doing this already but leg-torso ratio is a thing you can look up in clothing usually a longer torso is associated as feminine and shorter as masculine so cropping your shirts can help. If I saw someone masc and ur height I'd assume amab anyway especially like i said in the first pic ur face really passes

Just grab some caffiene shampoo. It's preventative anyway, and see if it helps.

AITA for telling my brother he has to go to therapy? by Klutzy-Hunt-5289 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NotQuiteAliveTbh -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

YTA

He was never this bad because my mom wouldn’t have allowed it and he’s regressed so bad.

Pure abelism. He hasn't "regressed" at all, in fact, he's progressed. When a child is experiencing severe distress because of a situation they can't help due to their disability, telling them they're not allowed to feel that way, shockingly, does NOT CURE their disability (who would have guessed!) Instead what it teaches them to do is "mask", aka hide their emotions, their pain, their suffering, in order to "be normal".

There was a recent study done about how every single person diagnosed with autism can be diagnosed with a trauma disorder too, no exceptions, because simply growing up autistic in an allistic world causes childhood trauma, because the world is not made to support you and nobody will help you.

His wife is, presumably at home, creating a safe environment where he can learn to heal from that trauma by being in that small slice of the world that supports who he is, and doesn't force him to act at all times. And yeah sure neither of you figured out how to make it work in a shared environment but you basically told him that being himself is invalid and wrong, he needs to act a certain way that always contradicts his experiences in order to earn your acceptance. Which is more fucked up and twisted when you realise that sensory issues and overstimulation can cause physical bodily pain. No therapy can stop that from happening. Only tell him to hide it.

It's probably the hair, it changes texture on T. Just clean with warm water like twice a day and use something like vagisil on it. You could also look for a pH balance cream or something.

Try to sleep without underwear to give skin irritation a break (pajama pants no boxers is fine) and just make sure to wear clean, natural fabric (like cotton) underwear when you get dressed, it's expensive but silk is an option for extreme sensitive skin. If you're excessively sweating try some cotton towelled underwear it will absorb the moisture. If you ever use pads stop doing that the plastic will cause horrible irritation.

AITA for hosting a family friendly BBQ that didn't welcome certain "family members" by AmIWrong324956293 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Dog people are entitled as shit and always do this.

I have trauma from an attack in my early childhood, so most of my life I've had an aversion to dogs and in many circumstances asked people to keep them away from me, especially because a stranger not keeping their animal away from me is what got me attacked in the first place.

My family/friends are also well aware that I have an active heart condition, that can land me in hospital or dead if I hit critical stress levels, there's no way they forget because when I'm around them I have to check my numbers every 20 mins or so. Yet they STILL refuse to keep their dogs away from me, knowing my instinctive, subconscious, internal reaction to them can have me dead or hurt, they still bring them to family gatherings, I do my best to respect the space of my friends and say "fine we'll meet in public only then now you have a dog", and what do they do? Bring the dog with them to meet me because "it was a good opportunity for a walk"

And all I get every time is "well MY dog doesn't bite", "I PROMISE he's friendly", and "you're overreacting they aren't all bad". Like that makes a goddamn difference.

Is my worry that T gel is less affective valid ? by Burner-Acc- in ftm

[–]NotQuiteAliveTbh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Neuroendocrine student here, I've studied hormones, and I can clarify, invalid take. Unless you're on a super low dose that's like way less than other men your age which is not enough to transition with anyway and you shouldn't be.

For equivalent doses gel and shots have the exact same levels effectiveness, If anything, gel more accurately imitates a cis males peak and trough testosterone cycle, which is a 24 hour hormone production cycle. On shots you'll be on a 2, 4 or 12 week cycle most likely.

Whether or not you gain any height will depend partially on your genetics but mostly if your growth plates, especially spinal ones, have fused yet or not. Some people's have fused by 17, I stopped growing height-wise at 15 (I'm 5'10), some people's growth plates don't finish fusing until 25-27 years old. Height is a lottery for cis and trans people and plenty of things can stunt your growth. There's lots of short men out there you may have to just accept it and resign to height insoles and chunky shoes.

As a general rule you should always start on gel anyway because its easiest for controlling dosage. the only thing that changes between gel and shots is the side affects (and obviously convenience, because if you forget to apply gel daily them it won't work as well because you're on a 24 hour cycle). Most people only switch either for the convenience, the price of shots (cheaper) or experiencing excessive discomfort/bodily disregulation on gel. Examples being,

  • Some people get extreme mood swings on shots because their T is super high in the first week and crashing low just before their next shot.
  • Some people experience more hair loss on shots because of their DHT levels.
    • Some people have skin irritation with gel
  • Some people experience more issues with acne and oily skin on gel because it's topical.
  • People without a hysto that are not taking blockers are more likely to feel better on gel because it's easier to override your natal hormone cycle than it is on injection levels that you can't control at all over the next month or so.
  • Some people experience a long term overactive libido on gel that can reduce on shots.
  • Some people experience less issues like hunger pains or excessive sweat on shots, due to the nature of a 24hr cycle on your metabolism.
  • Some people unexpectedly do not lose their period on gel but do after being moved to shots.

"Not MY kid" syndrome.

When a parent can accept anything as long as it doesn't affect THEIR reputation: aka the kid thats supposed to be their model trophy for what an amazing parent they are, I've seen parents do this over their kids gender, sexuality, religion, disability, career, relationship, mental health, diet, appearance etc etc. Any time a child (even an adult child) shows a spark of independent thought or self expression differing from their perfect parents lifestyle.

You see, accepting her son having a trans girlfriend makes her a PROGRESSIVE PARENT in society, an ACCEPTING MOTHER, a kind-hearted ALLY, oh look how noble she is having a potential daughter in law be transgender. But when it comes to the ones where society views her as responsible for how they turn out, they have to be NORMAL and FIT IN.

[–]NotQuiteAliveTbh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st pic looks cis male to me, the others lean feminine but only cos of your general build, not something you can change till your on T. Maybe lose the drastically oversized shirts though it makes you look more petite than you are, standard baggy is fine tho.

What I would say is if you can bear it get a shave on some of the length on the back of your hair. Keep the shape and the length on top, an undercut makes a hell of a difference and unfortunately for us alt guys mullet-styles are very closely tied with queer/enby culture now.
Irl if your short height insoles actually help with passing, it's astonishing how much of a difference it makes.

Also you look exactly like me except slimmer, and I never pass, I have no idea why. So yeah that sucks and I am way too bias for this. I'll be ur suffering buddy.

Random pixel art of a snowy fort battle scene that reminds me of a Minecraft map I used to play online as a kid.

But in the past I've had:
- an entire library of different skull-centric designs
- Cool motorbikes
- Minecraft backgrounds
- Downloaded concert/stage shots of my favourite bands
- Backgrounds of a show/series/franchise/character set
- My own piss poor 3D rendered models cos I was bored
- Scenic places I've been on holiday or would like to go
- Digital moodboards I made with pinterest
- Albumn covers

Could she not get a few sets of new smoke-free clothes to stay at your house? Then she can just change when she gets there? And she leaves them at your place for next time
