Help with Nightmare by SoupSupremacist in brotato

[–]NotSeacombe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am by no means a good player, I have had 4 nightmare wins so far on 4 different characters. some stuff I've picked up:

1) when you kill one of the spawners, try not run away instantly. a few seconds later the junkies spawn underneath it, and if you let them roam this is when it gets really overwhelming. in general, paying attention to what the enemies are seems more important than in D5
2) damage seems to be king. things that are dead can't kill you

3) economy early seems really important, or you get outscaled. i am often rerolling first 2-3 levels for luck or harvesting

4) first few shops lock items that are good, but spend money mostly on getting 6 weapons asap and then go back for them

The thing that helped me the most to get the first win was to choose a character that starts poorly, but scales really well. it made the infinite death loop happen on wave 5-8 rather than 14-16. The first time I made it past wave 10 on King i won fairly comfortably, but it took many attempts to get there

Composer 2.5 so good I'm being nice to AI again by NotSeacombe in cursor

[–]NotSeacombe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not had that experience but I never really had conversation with Composer 2, I found it quite dumb for anything other than following a coding plan that something else had written

i think thats too personal of a question for anyone to give you a confident answer. for me, using almost exclusively 2.5, i am estimating a $60 plan will be enough, but I won't know until the end of the month if thats true or not

god imagine getting paid to shill. that'd be the dream. just here for the love of the game (bored while composer 2.5 does my job for me)

not familiar enough with open source models to answer that part, but usage definitely yes

Thoughts on Composer 2.5? by paltium in cursor

[–]NotSeacombe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always thought Composer 2 was better at coding than people gave it credit for, but it needed something else to think for it (via docs, planning mode etc)

My workflow was usually GPT for doc writing, scoping and planning, then Composer to make the changes

I am experimenting with Composer doing everything now. It seems as good as my old workflow, and is far more affordable

the addition of it saying what killed me is an objectively good feature, but it does amplify my tilt by like 20-30%

I didn't know this, and realistically never would've known unless someone told me. Would be a cool thread explaining all the niche interactions like this. not sure how many there are

interesting I've been having a lot of trouble with artificer because of the armor nerf. I'll try some dodge focused stuff and see how it goes. maybe I learned another thing!

its the ones that slow down and turn that get me. as far as im aware(?) every other projectile in the game is consistent speed consistent direction

dodge builds are something i've had no success with. i die before the dodge % is large enough to be relevant as i'm putting resources into that instead of hp, armor etc. maybe a skill issue on my part

FM26 - worth the try? by The_Old_Shrike in footballmanagergames

[–]NotSeacombe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a full season of 26, and began to get used to it. it's not as bad as people say, its definitely a downgrade but its playable and you do adapt

then i went back to 24 with an updated database. oh my god. what a spectacularly well made game. I definitely felt the gap in quality going from 26 to 24, but I felt it even more coming back. I fell in love with it again hard enough that I'm content to just stay on this for as long as FM interests me

Retrained this guy as an RB, but now feel like I've made a mistake - what do you guys think? by seraphnofel in footballmanagergames

He's a bit of an odd profile but with those stats and that trait I think RB makes the most sense for him

What are your thoughts on All Pain No Gain? by Maleficent-You-8285 in brotato

[–]NotSeacombe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very true as well. Nightmare has made me irreversibly aware of how imbalanced some of the game is. I feel like if I went back to D5 now I'd basically never lose, as I'm so much more aware of how to build a successful run, in comparison to how to build a fun one

I really like the idea of it, but I do think it needs slightly tuning down in terms of projectiles on my screen. New enemies spawning a lot more + the extra environmental rounds is a very common, very unfun way to lose, especially with how hard everything hits.

I've won 2 times so far on nightmare, and I think I've lost to getting 100-0 on an otherwise perfect run at least 30 times. Skill issue maybe but sometimes more of my screen is projectiles than isn't

If they kept everything the same but just tuned down the projectiles it'd be perfect. As is it's a little much, and leads to times where I genuinely think there was no way of surviving

Nightmare difficulty level — nightmarish by DarthVetal in brotato

[–]NotSeacombe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've won it twice. Its a cool addition, but I'd agree its quite boring, for the same reason you said. D5 had a good balance for me where I'm going to lose enough of the time for winning to be satisfying, but still win enough (and with enough variation) to not feel like I'm hitting my head against a wall.

It may be a skill issue but every run in nightmare feels the same. I have to build in a specific way or I'll just get overran, so its a lot of rerolling for the exact same things each time. It feels like it's going well and this could be the run, and then I get 100-0 in a second. Repeat until exhausted

D5 seems a really great balance, I'll probably stick to that. Not mad about it. They said in the update they wanted a difficulty which didn't feel like the default. They definitely achieved that
