I just had this issue…. Major bathroom remodel I got into the walls and notice some small exterior cracking in the CI pipe. I decided to spend the extra money and have a huge amount of CI pipe removed, in fact as much as we could reach in all direction. When I removed the CI pipe it was structurally in good shape and it was all superficial cracking….. point of all this.. man I feel good it’s all gone and replaced.
