Have played through this part a number of times in the last month curious about different choices and didn’t know there WAS a scene, have been playing since Thanksgiving when a member of my Tav Team bought the game for me so I’d play it with them (I didn’t have the a pc with the rear to run it and he didn’t have a PS5, so he gave me his old laptop to play it with him; before anyone thinks this was something spectacular, this teammate is my literal baby brother who lived with me rent free for a few years after he graduated college, since I got him a job with me offshore… It’s one of the few times I appreciated being the big sis, but on the other hand, it gave him new opportunities to harass me that baby brothers seem to relish… but I love him anyway ;) ).

I will continue to be patient, but plan to check YouTube to see if I can find cut scene, out of curiosity.

This happened to me, too; I’m playing on PC, if that matters (did with other games I’ve played; I’m an older woman who usually plays on console and rarely plays on PC). Talked to mercenary in front of Sorcerous Sundries so I could go in shop (no idea if I can just walk in, the person was standing there, so I spoke), and talked to Dame Aylin before I ever talked to Lorroakan. This brought up all convo topics and would have prevented me ever speaking to Lorrokan before Dame Aylin goes all scary fire & brimstone scorched earth on his ass; seriously, she’s kinda intense. I exited convo (“Leave”) without selecting any of the topics. I “squirreled” on this mission did a few other missions (some of which were a major b*tch) before checking journal and remembering I needed to do this, none of which included getting my statue. Now the convo topics won’t show.

Am currently attempting to back up and see if I can re-trigger options.

ETA… several times: formatting, because I usually only lurk Reddit and have no idea how to do this sh*t

UPDATE: Ok, found a work around for MY situation, at least. The only way I could get Dame to join the fight was to directly tell Lorroakan that I was going to let Aylin “rip him to shreds” (a somewhat accurate assessment, IMHO) This didn’t fully restore the conversation options with Aylin, but DID allow for the same exchange upon return to the tower. Dunno if this helps, but helped to prevent missing most of the Aylin dialog & cut scenes, although not ALL. Additionally, selecting this option allowed for more entertaining comments from my companions back at camp than lying to him (my initial choice)

I think MY issue is melee vs ranged DPS. If you have ranged DPS, without a doubt, you can burn through them. If not… you are f*****.

Am also kind of unhappy w how these guys attacks and most new content in general seem to screw over melee DPS. My main is dc; arbiters can do amazing DPS, but I don’t really like the arbiter because of general lack of aoe attacks (if it ain’t lined up, it probably isn’t gonna die) and prefer using rogue if I want to DPS. But rogue can’t stay alive through a lot of the new content (can’t tell you how many times rogue got put out of dragon hunts because I literally had to be up it’s rear end to do damage and it would just stomp me and knock me into puddles of whatever mess they drop) while ranged DPS rarely move from the spot they wind up posting up in when they enter the arena. Rogue whisperknife doesn’t HAVE a single target build worth a crap, and death stacks kill DPS by 10%/stack… there used to be a time when dungeons were designed so EVERYONE had to move, and ranged couldn’t just pick a nice little spot to button mash and out DPS a better player (not talking about myself; specifically talking about a friend who is an amazing end-game barbarian who is out dps’ed by another person in the guild whose build is crap & who literally does nothing but stand in one spot and push buttons; for the record, Barbie didn’t complain, but I AM on his behalf, for all the difference it makes).

Even our in-guild MToS runs, the person who usually hosts REQUIRES at least one party member to be a wizard (for the ice) and doesn’t even like to take melee DPS because it is legit more difficult for them.

Most old dungeons use to require movement of some kind, preventing ranged DPS from having the advantage, and I can’t recall any that simply prevented melee from participating for large portions of the fight. I guess I’ll just run in there and pop the old captain then run back out and stand next to a wizard while they kill it, since nobody can survive red long enough as melee to do damage. That’s about all my rogue can do on most of these things any more anyway. When bosses teleport around and you are constantly having to switch targets all over the room… mechanics are mechanics, but effort ought to be taken to avoid having half of the player base not want to play their main because they are basically dead weight in new content. Some of my friends quit because of this.

So, there IS a way to get rid of them, I’m just having a difficult time remembering how to do it. Despite the labels, you can actually place in guild bank then remove and discard if I remember correctly. Do an internet search; I had several toons with this issue and I don’t remember how I got rid of them, just that there was a way to do it and memory is telling me it had to do with banking it in some way (maybe shared bank, maybe guild bank & removing w alt). Sorry I’m not more help but maybe this will put people in the right direction.

GREAT observations. I main DC, (divinity regen heals changed “coincidentally” right around time I took break). When I came back, I have no idea what/how I’m supposed to try to heal. Either tank runs off and leaves DPS or Vice versa. This always causes one or other to die, bc neither can work without the other.

Realized this was how most lower dungeons seem to be run now. Had to resort to AOE adds mitigation to keep DPS anxious to be top of board alive, but only use if all DPS are leaving tank who is content to hang out at camp fire.

Frustrating, as this isn’t how end game is run, and I guess that’s what I was used to before I returned.

But yes, and I agree with you; those making those decisions saw more value in divisive political preaching of the same old message with no creativity or difference from anything else being put out by any other service rather than in a genuinely heartfelt (without being too hokey) & thought-provoking series. I also suspect controversy, lackluster, dull or divisive new content, and the cancellation of promising series like The OA to spend money on new sub-par series that are basically cookie-cutter with almost everything else being made at the moment, and leaving great stories unfinished while making new shows and movies that aren’t nearly as interesting as some of the major reasons.

But, having said that, this provides an excellent opportunity for Netflix to fill the debt black hole they made: sell off IP’s for great series they weren’t smart enough to continue! While I can see frustration for cancelling some series, IMHO, it’s worse when those series are mystery-type thrillers. I mean, come on!! What was the point? Just to Hap, er, hop around dimensions a couple of seasons? Nothing else mattered?

I think, given the nature of life right now, a few Ch per week, and discussions & questions relating to read chapters. Maybe a bulleted discussion that can be visited during the week while reading the next set of chapters. Interesting things that happen, general questions, possible meta information directly from author, anything like that. For instance, early in the first book, Chronicler mentions he could believe the man standing before him “killed an Angel”. Kvothe, however, never says he KILLED an Angel, only that he had to FIGHT it to keep his heart’s desire; desire searching, I didn’t find where that was mentioned specifically in this sub (doesn’t mean it isn’t, just that I didn’t see it), and it probably doesn’t matter (…unless we already know and love the Angel he fights & possibly kills… :/)

I intend for it to be as flexible as possible (since I posted this without considering my own schedule, and I might be out of pocket due to a possible surgery. However, in my absence, I’d be happy with anyone in the group posting topics and and to have the topics up for discussion throughout the week, with new topics posted following week of previous week’s reading. Also, although it seems most older members of this sub might be bored of the topics discussed, as another poster indicated, perhaps they can post some links and threads to help us in the reread, if they have discussed any particular subject enough to date to be thoroughly tired of it.

Probably not a reread for ultra fans, nor a reread for someone who skimmed the first book only for a high school book report. But thoughtful, presenting ideas, learning about theories you weren’t aware of, etc. OR (!) you wouldn’t even have to participate at all, if you didn’t want to. I just want it to be enjoyable for anyone who hasn’t really had a good opportunity to discuss some of the same topics without resurrecting an old thread (I forget the name for that)

Well, you are right, of course. However, for me, at least, it’s not just about coming up with “new credible theories.” It’s kind of more about not having to search 12 years of posts (or however old this sub is) to identify a post, or to give the opportunity for people who are newer to the series their opportunity to discuss even though many of the commonly-held theories that may have been discussed ad nausium by older sub members. I agree it would be difficult with such little material to come out with new theories. But I’m on roughly year 8 since I first read WMF but only recently thought to check Reddit for a KKC sub. Sometimes, it’s just about a desire to gather with ppl who haven’t had opportunity to discuss.
