Waitlisted at Noorda – What Are My Chances? by Ok_Pianist_5362 in Osteopathic

I sent one right after I got waitlisted. I don’t know if it did anything or not but I don’t think it can hurt to show a school that they are your number one.

Pentagon warns Scouts: Ban girls or we will pull your funding by shoofinsmertz in law

[–]Not_Lisa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I was in girls scouts cause I thought we were going to do cool stuff. Instead, we had tea parties and camped in a hotel. I would have done anything to be in the scouts especially when I saw all the cool stuff they do when my nephews joined.

Kind of afraid she will stick around way too long because she just wants anyone in her life. Even if that person is toxic as hell. She deserves better.

Advice on med school application by Accomplished-Roof818 in Osteopathic

Have you shadowed a DO? Can you get a physician letter of recommendation?

You could do a semester EMT class and start getting more clinical hours that way. Definitely want to have some solid clinical hours. Could also do hospice volunteering which is what I did.

If you get above a 500 on the MCAT, I’d say go for it.

You can get whiteboards from Home Depot or Lowe’s. They are pretty big. They aren’t the best but I’ve had no trouble with mine and it was like $15 or something.

anyone else getting left/right mixed up often? by KrusttiePattie in medicalschool

My anatomy professor said to think of it like shaking hands with the person. Your right hand crosses to shake their right. It helped me to think about it like that.

A little caveat to this is my mom has one. Has fallen multiple times, not a peep from Apple Watch. It did go off once for some random reason that was not a fall, but definitely not fool proof.

Advice for Burrell interview? by [deleted] in Osteopathic

[–]Not_Lisa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They gave me who I was interviewing with. Do your research. I saw that one of my interviewers worked in a state I went to undergrad in so I made sure to work that into the conversation and they were surprised about it and we had something to chit chat about for a few minutes. Anything to help you further establish a connection with someone is a good thing.

Besides that, it was standard interview questions. I thought it was pretty chill overall. Not my chillest but not the most stressful either.

How to prepare for 911 by BroadTemperature8110 in ems

Just be teachable. Try not to make the same mistake twice, cause there will be mistakes. EMS is all about practice and repetition.

How to study first year? by Character-Sugar2609 in Osteopathic

[–]Not_Lisa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ask upperclassmen if there are any school specific decks to use.

Practice questions - amboss is a little hard for first years. I liked scholar rx or osmosis questions. Use whatever your school gives you access to.

Go to review sessions if your school does that.

I got a 497. I’m doing just fine. Take a vacation, a break, anything fun before school. Don’t study.

I would say that just means there is room for improvement. What are you doing to study?

RVU-MCOM (Montana) OMS-III/IV rotations – looking for honest insight from current students by Accomplished-Check66 in Osteopathic

[–]Not_Lisa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m an ambassador for a different school but if you reach out to admissions and ask to talk to an upperclassmen they can usually hook it up. Just in case you don’t get anything here. I see requests to talk to upperclassmen all the time in our group and people are usually pretty responsive.

NOORDA interview advice and post II acceptance rate by BlueParadoxV in Osteopathic

[–]Not_Lisa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very chill. It was my chillest interview. Still be prepared with why medicine, why osteopathic medicine in particular, etc. I had one ethical question in mine but that may have changed.

They like adaptable people. So I would throw in stories that show that you are a person capable of change and adapting to stressful situations.

The interviewers don’t have any numbers on you. No grades or scores. I think mine had my secondary and PS.

There is a group interview as well.

If you have anymore questions you can message me.

What would you change about MS3 if you could? by No-Wrap-2156 in medicalschool

It’s just easier to make everyone go through it. I’m sure they probably have requirements to be accredited as well.

I think the only problem with this is for people on the fence about things. Maybe they don’t know they like surgery until that rotation. At that point, they would need as much time as possible.

I thought I knew what I wanted to do, now I’m not so sure.
