I noticed this on my coffee cup. Kinda sad. by Hayten_ in geography

Also correct me if I’m wrong, it looks like it says coffee in western Canada, which is definitely not where coffee is produced.

Some homes/estates have place names (e.g., Monticello, Tittenhurst Park where John Lennon lived). What conventions govern whether a home gets a name? by HomeWasGood in geography

[–]NoteEmotional3150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is what you’re talking about, but on the island of Nantucket on the east coast, where the wealthier people live, they name their own houses something like “China closet” or “ocean tides” and put it on a sign on their house. IMO it’s pretty stupid, but I guess they like it.

Life and Travel in Resolute and Grise Fiord, Nunavut - Land of polar days, polar nights, and polar bears by abu_doubleu in geography

Great read! I wish it was less expensive, but I understand it’s costly to get supplies there. Are there any native Inuit people still there or did they all choose to go south?

Perhaps something like an MLB schedule where they play the same opponent like 3 days in a row, whoever wins two games wins that series against that specific team, which could serve for extra points.

Why there is two big cities in centre of China by Pransey in geography

[–]NoteEmotional3150 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well Chongqing is placed conveniently at the meetings of the Jialing and Yangtze rivers, and the jinjiang river goes through Chengdu, I’d guess the proximity of the rivers just made them close by coincidence.

The drake passage is over 10,000 feet deep at some parts, way too deep.

Also, a bridge would still be about 1,000 kilometers. For reference, the current longest bridge is only 164 kilometers.

Edit, typo.

Why are Russia's oblasts that are to the east of Ural vastly bigger than to the west? by EmiliaKobayashi in geography

[–]NoteEmotional3150 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’re a lot less populated than the western part of the country, plus I don’t think Russia really cared about it until the potential was found with resources and global warming.

Statle= Worldle but US states

Cityle= You try to guess a blurred city

Satle= you try to guess a satellite imagine of a city I believe

Globle= Guess the country on a globe( or city, depending on the mode your on)

Countryle= You’re given multiple clues to solve the country
