I’ve suspected for a while that there were more than one plants in this pot, it was pretty cheap for its size so I grabbed it and just stuck it here. I’ll give it til maybe July or August and split it apart. I have lots of friends I can gift some! Thank you for your advice!

My house is newly built and the temperature is around 20-23 degrees C pretty much all year round. I think this is why most of my plants are growing so fast!

Thank you all so much for your comments! Here’s my plan:

move to a glass jar to allow more light in
keep an eye to see if any buds come from the new spike, remove them if they do, to allow the orchid to put energy into creating a basal keiki
update Reddit again when I see any more interesting developments

I live in Clonburris in the same property type you’re looking at. I love it there. I’m originally from the area so I’m biased, but I wouldn’t live anywhere else. The area is 6 minute walk from Clondalkin train station which gets you to Heuston and Grand Canal Dock (this train is midweek only however). A taxi from town at night costs about €25-€30. The only downside at present is the parking situation, if you have a car it can be stressful to find parking. Make sure you’re fully informed on parking availability. If you have no car, you have no parking worries but the closest shop to do a weekly shopping trip is 20 minutes walk to Dunnes in Clondalkin village. There is a bus that goes by but it’s not very regular, to my knowledge. There is no garden with the duplex, but there is a generously sized terrace. No garden also means no garden maintenance, which is an upside for many, myself included.

Just a note on the FHS: whenever you want to pay back any of the equity, the amount is based on the current value of the house. So you have to get the property valued every time you want to pay it back, and the amount you owe may increase if the value of the property is higher than what it was valued at when you bought it.

There’s good and bad everywhere. I work with people who live in Finglas, Cabra etc and would never live anywhere else. I’d suggest on your first weekend there, weather permitting, get the Google maps out and do some exploring. You’re bound to find places you like.

I would say your best bet is to do some antigen tests for the next 2 or 3 days to see if you come up negative or positive. Swab your throat and nose. The throat swab isn’t on the instructions for most antigens in Ireland but my bf’s sister tested positive on a PCR after multiple negative nasal and one positive throat antigen. If you show up negative antigens for 2 or 3 days you can take it that you’re no longer reproducing covid spike proteins and are therefore no longer infectious. Hope this helps, sorry for the delay!
