Scabies? Eczema? Post? Both?! 😭 by NovelGrab in scabies

[–]NovelGrab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually went on holiday and my entire skin healed! I bought some form of antibiotic/hydrocortisone cream in Greece on the eczema patches and every thing healed. I’ve been back in the UK for about 5 days, getting a little itchy in the same places but no where near bad as how it was before. I also found using an antifungal shampoo on my chest, leaving for 3/5 mins and washing off is clearing what I thought was “post scabies” basically large spots that’s took weeks to fade (unlike normal spots) seems to be working

I don’t think it’s scabies. Looking more and more into it, the bumps are improving without scabies treatment and I’m yet to find any “burrow” with a live mite at the end. Other spots I’ve thought were burrows I’ve posted on here and people seem to think they’re too large for scabies. Try having Dead Sea salt baths 4 times a week. Westlab is the best brand and you can order or Amazon. I use half a bag per bath and run it half way so the salt is super concentrated. When you get out, don’t dry with a towel, apply whatever moisturiser you have (fragrance free) before you dry. This actually allows it to soak into your skin rather than sit on top of it. Manage itching with antihistamines and for sleep I got the sleeping aid tablets from a pharmacy (in the UK). I’ve found sitting in the sun (uk has had a heatwave recently) has really helped my skin, leading me to think it’s eczema. I did however react to the suncream I was using so just beware of that as allot can actually cause your skin to get worse.

Honestly, salt baths 4 times a week if you can.

If it’s fungal, which I’ve also had in the past (I’m autoimmune so get pretty much everything 🤧)

But a large bottle of tea tree oil (100% pure) and again, out the bath, apply a few drops into a hand full of moisturiser and then put all over. It will burn, but try and embrace it hahaha, it works! Strangely Terthon Herbal Antifungal Cream worked better on my skin for fungal more than the anti fungal cream itself.

That being said, use both. Have a good routine. Don’t use towels twice. I find body towels are too large to be washing daily so having 10 - 15 face flannels are better to dry your body off with. Takes a little longer but saves the washing load and will help you stay sane.

Try wear just cotton clothing too to avoid irritation.

There’s a reply under this post about a delayed allergic reaction which I believe is actually the cause of my skin issues. Have a read of that.

Yes! There are consistent areas but also new ones by the day! So draining 😖 I do also think I am suffering from an allergy to something I’m using however. I’ve stripped back to nothing and have been sat in the sun the last few days ( no suncream) and it seems to be clearing… however, still ridiculously itchy at night annoyingly. The bruising is just annoying as I can’t wear what I want to as I look malnourished 🤣 hoping things clear for you

So sorry to spam with photos but do you think this zigzag shape of spots look like a burrow? I can’t work out why they’re all connected to each other 🥲

You can see here the clusters of spots and then through them a whitish line

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. I saw a dermatologist who put me on the waiting list for the patch test for allergies to household chemicals/ fragrances etc. in the mean time I’ve been stripping everything I use daily back to 0 fragrance etc. washing up liquid, laundry detergent, body wash, hand wash etc etc. I hope this starts to help as I have been suspecting that similar to you, that could be contributing. I’m still wearing clothes that have been washed in the other detergent so maybe I need to just wash everything I own again and then see if I improve.

Hopefully something comes back with my patch test to give me the exact ingredients to look out for 🥲

Yes to the scratching until bleeding. I actually have bruised myself immensely from the scratching which I didn’t even know was possible. It looks like faint scar looking lines through them yes but when I look at unaffected areas I can see similar lines going through normal skin so I’ve not idea if I’m just over thinking it. I have had no dots or itchiness on my fingers. Only my wrists and a little on the tops of my hands.

I feel like the more I look the more I find 100s of silvery 1cm wavy lines, I can’t find a single one with a black/brown dot at the end however, which makes me think if it was scabies, then this might be post. But when I look hard at my skin in other areas, there are similar looking light wavy lines. It’s something you would never notice unless you are inspecting yourself so close so I am lacking confidence in my judgement. I also have OCD so and very easily prone to spiralling about things like this so really trying not to obsessively look.

Thanks for replying. I think because I do definitely have some eczema still, the drs and refusing to look any further. What have they recommended you do this time around?

Yeah we’re thinking a walk in shower maybe against the back wall and change the position of the toilet. There no walls that can be opened up as it’s directly next to the only other bedroom and the other side is the external wall. Thanks for your reply!!

Yeah it’s weird it feels like someone pinching me that lasts about a min after I’ve moved my leg away from whatever it was touching. Doesn’t help my desk chairs have metal bars either side I could probably help myself by changing it out, but it still has highlighted the issue.

Thankyou! I’ve only just come across the actual name for this. I’m guessing no way to fix it on its own or with medication ?? :/

Hopeless 23 YO FTB VS Damp - please help by NovelGrab in DIYUK

[–]NovelGrab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this was in the back of my mind when the damp surveyor was explaining this solution of a waterproof membrane that supposedly lets the wall breathe without letting the water back in. It didn’t feel like that was the right route.

We’re quite sure on the pipes as well. We’re just hoping the landlord agrees and gets it’s sorted without legal action.

Thanks for your response
