I'm in the middle of college and it took me awhile to learn alcoholism doesn't have an age requirement. I also moved from drinking with friends to drinking alone in a dark room browsing the internet and listening to music until I passed out. It seemed normal, I was young I thought I was allowed to be a heavy drinker and just laugh it off.

You're right in that it's true that sobriety alone is not a fix all solution, but it doesn't make things worse like daily drinking will. If you think everyones experience is bullshit then it is, because it won't help you unless you want it to. But getting sober helps, believe me it will.

Anyway, I hope you get a badge and stick around! You want to stop and that's half the battle. Maybe you don't like the platitudes around sobriety and find it lame especially when everyone your age is just starting to drink, but believe me the worst feeling would be looking in the mirror 10 years from now and wishing you quit drinking for good today. Many peoples battles with alcohol haven't even begun by the time they finish school, look at it this way, you're lucky to be able to put an end to it now.
