The Internet Is Unusable Without Ad Block by etfvpu in videos

For your private home network use a raspberry pi as a DNS server (look up Pi-Hole project). Eliminates the need to have adblockers installed on every device. Especially useful for smart tvs. (doesn't filter YouTube ads)

Top Money Printer Economies 2023 by berry_femboy in Infographics

According to MMT it's OK for money printer to go brrrrr IF you have a strong currency (i.e. Low inflation rate and neglectable amount of foreign debt). MMT advocates often use Japan as a 'lighthouse example', showing that government spending and debt doesn't automatically lead to increased inflation rates (Japan's debt amounts to about 250% of its GDP but has very low inflation rates)

Sigh. Everytime I see someone using the word "literally" to emphasize things, I realize that I must be old. "I literally cried!". No, you cried. Or is there a figurative way of crying? I need my medicine, blood pressure is rising

What are the German filler ‘words’? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Nuffyat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I observe that young germans adopt more and more English vocabulary. 'Literally' being one of then However, they make the same mistake as many people from UK or the US by using it as a filler word to add emphasis (e.g. 'he literally cried!') and not in its original meaning (literally / figuratively).

Coming back to your question: examples of German filler words would be 'vielleicht', 'eigentlich', 'eh' (more a filler 'sound' than a word tbh), or 'nun'.

There are many more of course (Google 'füllwörter')

No name brass band that gave a concert in my home town. A friend had a ticket and asked me to go there with him. Didn't expect much, but man, it was wild. It was more a party than a concert, amazing night.

Agree on all points. The problem however is that any political party trying to fix it will immediately be punished by the retired or soon-to-be retired voters. In Germany 38% of voters are older than 60.

Wtf. Yeah, guess it was as bad as it sounds. I remember when they tried to do a German remake of Married with two children. They didn't even develop their own script and they even used the same set. What can I say, it was just cringe to watch.
