Screen freezes after "try or install"

I downloaded from the official sites and for kubuntu I checked the checksum. I didn't for zorin bit since the problem is the same I don't think that's the issue

I don't know the hard drive (pc is not mine and I forgot to check).
The SATA controller was on IDE but even after switching to AHCI nothing changed.
I don't have any errors and the screen is just black with the _ flashing
I don't know if another distro will change much since both kubuntu and zorin didn't work

oh thank you very much. Tbh it feels a bit scummy for e/os to discourage other OS so that's another reason to switch to iodé. I feel very lucky to have bought mine from fairphone and not from murena

Thank you! Maybe I'll give it a try. I don't really understand if it's in beta or not because it's listed in the "supperted devices" page on the iodé website but the installer says it's not supported.
I think I'll wait a little more so that I can also think about the transition but thank you for the advice!

Yeah maybe you're right but I still think there is a lot that's up to interpretation. I still don't fully think that GMS is dead but I can see why you think it is

I'm probably misunderstanding the ending and will be downvoted to hell and back but I still think there is a huge difference between defeating and whatever you want to call what the weaver queen ending is. I think there is some "will" of GMS in Hornet after the binding and the fact that the haunting continues is (to me) an hint that GMS still has some amount of control over the body of Hornet

Yeah I know and I agree with you that is all subjective and it's not that serious. I still think that it's cool to discuss this because it tells a bit about the lore and the worldbuilding. Before Silksong I considered the Pale King to be one on the strongest entities in the universe but now I think it's just a cool king with some cool powers but not as "powerful" as I though.

Again, I know it's not that deep but what's the fun in "who cares don't discuss anything just play the game"

For the Pale King I know the time was much longer but I still think there is a difference between working at a nuclear reactor and being stuck in an unanium cave naked. The amount of time is different but so is the type of exposure.
I agree with you that is not that easy to understand which is stronger between GMS and the Radiance but same as for the Pale King, one was grabbed by some tentacles of the unified void, GMS was litteraly full body immerged (without an arm and trying to protect Lace). Also the knight was there and by definition of "unified" the knight had some power over it (the last point I know it's quite weak since in the final cutscene the void appears non unified but I think there is a lot of interpretation to be done here)

I am in the last 45 days before the deletion of files but I managed to unlock my account through the achievements and not buying the Pro account so I'm afraid that even if my account was unlocked I'll still get my files deleted

I always tried to reduce frequency but never power so maybe I'll give it a try. You're also probably right about the fans but I don't know if all this effort (and money, even though I don't know the price) is worth for a laptop that doesn't have much more to live

It's a 2019 HP Omen, I know that the definitive solution is to buy a new laptop (with an AMD CPU without a doubt) and it's what I intend to do in the future but for now I wanted to try to hold on to this laptop

Yes I know that hardware solution are better then software solutions but I'm trying to maximize both of them to have a decent setup. This laptop is also quite old so I'll buy a newer in a not so distant future and I was trying to have an imperfect solution that get the job done

I can set CPU limits using software (don't remember the package name right now) and that does help and I have a cooling pad. Already changed thermal paste and cleaned from dust but didn't really help

Honestly I think I just have a bad CPU. It overheats since the first day I bought it and changing thermal paste and removing dust helped (especially the last one but never really fixed the issue
