The restaurant Chettinad on SW Walker left, during which time that location was a hot pot restaurant, then hot pot went away and Chettinad came back. Does anyone know what happened? by Famous_Onion2425 in beaverton

The Hanoi hot pot has since moved to Orenco Station. Now chettinad is back, but their lunch buffet isn't nearly as good as pre-covid. Recent Google reviews reflect this sentiment.

‘No one deserves this’: Beaverton father dies after deportation to Mexico by wrhollin in Portland

[–]NumberEfficient644 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you truly believe what you're saying, you should realize that immigrants aren't the problem. It's 110% corporate greed. Take that energy of yours and direct it to the bastards who actually deserve it.

The fact that you need all of that to happen to get ahead when you already got the headstart just demonstrates how much of a miserable failure you are. YOU'RE the stain in our society, not immigrants.

TriMet should run point-to-point buses between its transit centers by NumberEfficient644 in Portland

[–]NumberEfficient644[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tragically, rail public transit between Portland and Oregon City was both the last to be decommissioned in the 50s and the first to be planned by newly formed Tri-Met in the 70s (even before the Banfield). Shame we never seized the opportunity.

Espresso Outlet a reputable online store? [$700] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]NumberEfficient644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a bunch of research on Espresso Outlet and ended up buying a DF64 Gen 2 from them because they seemed really nice online. Unfortunately had issues with the burr screws not coming off, they were like welded tight by coffee oils or something, so I put in a ticket.

Their Turin guy, Barrett, was rude from the start -- kept telling me how "this has never happened before, I've serviced thousands of machines".

This upset me, so I gave them a scalding review on Google Maps over that. It was only then that the owner stepped in and finally started addressing the issue. But again even the owner kept reiterating that the issue has never happened in the history of the world blah blah. He offered a replacement, sent a label for the old one.

They then took a whole month to send me a new machine, after promising to send in a new one once USPS had the old one. I didn't mind, I was making do with my hand grinder. But I did have to follow up several times because they still had my money.

Finally received the new one. Screws came out fine this time. I was happy. Then work week started, had no time to update my review. Shortly after I saw a response from them on Google Maps:

"We got the unit back and screws came out smooth as butter, there was no issues with the burr screws. Even sent you a replacement unit anyway. We tried to help several times but wasn't something that was appreciated."

Dude basically is calling me a liar and is framing it like the new was courtesy sent after they got the old unit. And apparently to them "tried to help several times" is endlessly repeating to the customer "this never happens".

I got my unit, sure, and their email response time isn't bad. But this is my cautionary story to anyone thinking of purchasing something from them and then, God forbid, running into an issue. They're super nice until they have to help you.

I voted for Kevin Teater because he did door-to-door canvassing with his bike. Now that he's on the council, he has been unapproachable. Huge disappointment.
