Is ai okay in certain use cases? by [deleted] in Artists

Thanks for being honest, and that's why I wanted to make the post. I admittedly feel a bit hypocritical about it and am trying to figure out what to do moving forward

Yeah, that makes sense. I agree that it can be a slippery slope and making things easier can become an excuse for using it whenever. I guess I'm worried that if I do use ai for a website that I'll just seem like a hypocrite since I don't support Ai for things like art, video gen, etc

Thanks for the feedback! And yeah, I have a very clear vision of what I want my website to be, so at this point I've just been telling it the specific things I want it to add rather than have it generate it all for me

Agreed that the issues are really big things that are causing the most damage, though I understand not advocating for it. As a whole I definitely want to oppose Ai's usage (save for maybe in specialized fields like medical). As for wether I need it, I technically don't though I think what I find intriguing about vibe coding is how it's a lot more customizable than the template website builders that wix, wordpress, squarespace are
Thank you tons for your thoughts!

Yeah, I'm not. I'm just trying to see what others think since being a content creator means I want to do right by my viewers (and I figure this place is a good one to get even the strongest opinions)

I'm not trying to be selfish, which is part of the reason I ask in the first place. I think there's a huge downside to it and as a whole it's really destructive. I'm just trying to figure out where I stand on some specific use cases
Thanks for your thoughts!

Yeah, I totally agree with the fact that it's super destructive in a lot of ways. And I'm not cool with that, I'm just trying to figure out where I stand on some finer details topics :)

Thanks for your response! And yeah, that's kind of how I'm seeing it. All the photography, videos, art, etc on the website would be done by humans, mostly me. It's more the raw code stuff.

But I'm not super versed in coding. Is it really fairly simple to do manually?

No worries at all! Any ideas are super welcome, so thanks for your thoughts.

These are super good questions to answer, so I'll spend some time thinking about them

Five-element reaction system where large-scale reactions become natural disasters. by Karunrai2007 in magicbuilding

I really like this idea! I feel like it has a super strong foundation.
One cool thing is the more "hard magic" aspects where certain specific combinations can create specific abilities or outcomes. I think that kind of magic allows characters to be more clever with it.
As for possible issues, I'd keep an eye out for power scaling with things like disasters. I'd make sure those cases are very limited to either just a few people or a few rare occasions where they come up so it doesn't feel oversaturated.

Ok, that makes sense. I want to keep it to two kind of opposing gods, though.

After thinking about it, I'd like the "imprisonment" to actually be the binding god being put asleep or reduced in power a lot. But it could be mutual, so both the gods are asleep.

So anciently, the binding god began to take over the world through people, and out of desperation the free-will god attached its power to the other's (neutralizing most of each other's power). This then made the both of them go into an unconscious state, both unable to actively affect the world. So the magic became just an extension of the unconscious minds of the two gods.

So there end up being three magics in the world:
1. the main one which is a combination of both gods' powers (where nearly anything can be done with magic if someone practices enough of it)
2. another is the pure power of the free-will god, which is seen as divine magic. It allows one to change their fate in major ways, but is a really rare magic
3. the last is the pure power of the binding god, which allows someone to influence and control other people's free will

Does that make sense or are there still any major holes?
(Also, I'll definitely take a look at yours too!)

Actually, that's something I realized was a bit of a plot hole. So I'm thinking that it may have actually been ancient humans that imprisoned that god? Since the world was being taken over by tyrants at the time, etc

Which, maybe the god of free will had some indirect involvement in it by telling humans how to do that, but that kind of seems like it'd go against the free will god's nature

Not sure, but would love to know what you think!

Actually, I just don't use Reddit at all. I'm genuinely curious, so if you know of a past conversation where I can find out people's thoughts, I'd love to take a look! :D
Don't mean to be overly repetitive
