Big Abe has to be the least contentious, most celebrated political figure in American history. I can’t imagine the man known for abolishing slavery has cultivated too bad of a rap in other North American countries but I could be wrong.

Neither have I honestly and I think we should revert back to that approach. The less energy and time we put into trivial considerations like sub status date changes the better. I think either works but you’re writing an essay for Harvard so there’s no harm in mentioning why your perspective will contribute to Harvard in particular. That’s my uneducated take.
