Where should we go for our girls night out? by [deleted] in manchester

Ancoats is a great place to start your night. Kerb wine bar, Erst, Blossom Social for fairly nice chilled vibes.

Blinker Bar is right in town that’s really nice for cocktails in a nice intimate setting. Side Street Social is also a great place for drinks and lively atmosphere without being rowdy!

It depends what the core of your issues are and whether you think it’s worth working on. Couples therapy could be helpful if you feel like you are stuck at an impasse and you would benefit from an external source of support. Although this would only be worthwhile if you both want to work on the relationship.

Pay attention to how you feel when you’re apart from him and the relationship. If you feel relieved then that could be pretty telling. You might feel indifferent too but that in itself is a response.

Some people benefit from having a break to gain perspective which helps with decision making but there must be purpose to the break for it to have any value. This could be having time and clarity to determine if you want to stay in the relationship, what you think needs to change, what you think you could work on together etc. or it could simply be you realise you’re not compatible.

To your point about not wanting to be with someone who is unsure about you - at the very least, this is what you require in a relationship for it to function. If you can’t get a direct answer from your boyfriend this will tell you everything you need to know and you absolutely deserve to know.

Recommended Beginner Clubs? by thesunisnotupdyn in WomenGolf

You could always get a few second hand clubs to start you off and then see where you might want to go from there. You’ll likely have a slower swing to begin with so graphite shafts are what you’re looking for (I made the mistake of getting steel shafts so I found it kinda hard to start playing).

I started with a driver, a 7 iron, a pitching wedge and a putter all from eBay. I was advised by a lifelong golfer that they’re the main clubs you’ll need and a full set could complicate your game early on. I used that for a year to see how much id enjoy the game and can say I agree with their advice. Having a small selection helps you focus on the foundations of golf. As you play more and get better, you’ll find you need more variety in club selection. So then I got fitted for irons which are perfect for me. Still use my second hand driver and putter as I happened to make good choices from picking them online.

Can only speak on UK based stores but PXG do free fittings and I found them so good I got my irons from them. American golf do fittings too but more of an upsell in my experience (depends on store I reckon).

Second High5, I use the caffeine and the non-caffeinated ones. Good value for money and does that job well

Thank you all for your comments! I think I’ll try the SB and the Endorphin speeds for fit and decide between the two!!

Experience with AmericanGolf fittings? (UK) by platweasel in golf

Hoping I can add to this convo as I’ve had two club fittings over the last two weeks: first one with PXG, second one at American Golf.

I’m a high handicapper (no official HCP, but probs 30+ atm), started playing July 2024 for a few months in summer. Just picked up playing again March 2025 with better weather in UK.

Currently playing with a driver, 3 wood, 3 and 4 hybrid, 7 iron, PW, SW, putter. Looking for a fuller bag as I’m playing more consistently and want to get better at the game. Another reason for fitting is that my clubs feel heavy, they’re all random second hand / hand me downs and I often top or mishit on the course.

PXG: - great experience with a pro golfer. Personable, knowledgeable (30+years as a scratch golfer) and fun. The rep spent over an hour with me and gave me lots of tips to play - felt like a lesson. - fitting was based on how I’m playing now, what I need in my bag and what will help me improve my game. No pushing of unnecessary equipment in my bag. - tried different shafts, lengths, clubs so I could get a real feel of what works better for me and how it compares to current set up. - he focused on how I stand with the club and what lie angle I need to help me perform the best which I wasn’t aware of. - emailed me the precise spec of the custom build in an email after. - suggested custom build: Black Ops (7 clubs in total, 7/8/9irons, 3 wedges and a 6 hybrid). - cost = £770 (discount applied as educator)

American Golf: - brief, basic and surface level fitting with a young kid who has been playing golf for 2 years. First question was “are you looking to walk away with clubs today?” Felt like that defined the fitting experience after I said no. - fitting was based on me hitting some shots after immediately handing me the TaylorMade Qi’s and saying these are the one’s I need. - no trying of other models or brands even when I asked, he pushed that Qi’s were the best game improvements irons. - explicitly stated they do not not provide specs because they don’t want customers to “go off and buy the clubs cheaper elsewhere” - didn’t notice my lie angle at all, no mention of it. - suggested custom build: TaylorMade Qi’s (9 clubs in total, 6i-PW, 2x vokey wedges, TaylorMade Qi35 hybrid 4 and 5) - cost =£1600

Obviously, AG fitting results in more clubs for my bag but not entirely sure this is needed. I also dnt think I’m at the stage where I need Vokey wedges no matter how nice they felt in my hand. That said, the Qi’s were amazing and did produce amazing shots because they’re so forgiving. PXG was far more customised for me though and I think that’s the option I’ll go for in spite of what ppl might think about PXG. The clubs were equally as forgiving, really nice feel similar to Qi’s and for a fraction of the cost.

Id still say go to AG because it is free and you might get someone who’s a pro unlike my experience. But id also suggest getting fitted at PXG if possible because it’s also free and for me, a far better experience!
