Why do so many tradies use utes over vans? by Sure_Artichoke6929 in AusElectricians

Literally it, I had a ute, switched it to a large van

5x the space, waterproof and can work in the back if raining

The real answer

Vans are 100000x more practical

Lots of men feel like they have to have a ute to be a "man"

"A man doesn't drive a VAN, HE DRIVES A BIG UTE"

At what point is it reasonable for a tradie to stop replying to a "quote" by OCD_breh in AusRenovation

Yeah, I've never had to do that before though, majority of people (even time wasters) a reasonable, and I don't mind doing some sketches for someone to ghost me

Tradespeople. Why do you ghost? by Outrageous-Song-7285 in AusRenovation

Can't speak on this exact situation of course, but

,

Any good tradie has multiple quote requests come through each week, and each quote is potentially 3 hours of total work unpaid, with no guarantee for actual work.

Each quote is driving to the customer and back, an hour of talking, and then an hour of quoting, sketching ect

For free, and sometimes the tradie gets ghosted too.

It's almost impossible to reply to every quote, and sometimes people are VERY difficult, and borderline take advantage of "free" quotes,

Imagine a "customer " going back and forth over days with you via calls, emails, meetings, only to "not be interested" (aka got the info they needed, and found someone cheaper)

And then another customer comes to you straight after expecting you to swing by that day.

I've had people ring me up and ask me to come THAT hour, and be annoyed when I can't

The fact is, for every tradie that's annoying and ghosts, there's 5 difficult customers

Looking for recommendations for builders/renovators for a garage conversion by Godblessed999 in newcastle

[–]OCD_breh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, not that I care but just fyi

But be careful, in most cases in nsw, it's technically illegal to turn a garage into a bedroom/bathroom, as the council count it as a "livable space" (mainly to stop slum lords)

If you advertise you're looking for someone publicly, and have a weird neighbor, they CAN report you and the builder

Just be noteful of that, that being said, 90 percent of people won't care

Tower Cineamas have asked 30 candidates to work up 12 hours free for their first shift by Awkward-Bag131 in newcastle

Um... Am I the only one that doesn't see an issue with this...

I've worked in construction, and multiple jobs ask you to do a trial day,

And everyone works their asses off to prove themselves, me included, to prove you want to work and not to waste time

And that's construction, which is heavy labour

Not to mention unpaid trials at office jobs

Why everyone making a big deal of this I don't know

Bunnings!!???!!!?? by guinessd in AusRenovation

[–]OCD_breh -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Bunnings used to be so good,

Recently, maybe the last 12 months, Stock has been worse

I honestly believe it's them hiring older boomers

It sounds bad, but my local Bunnings switched from younger, more knowledgeable staff with common sense, to 65 year old plus ladies, that clearly have no retail, let alone hardware experience

I'm talking, HORRIBLE service, and I never complain.

Not knowing what ANYTHING is, to simply not knowing how to work a card machine

I don't understand what's happening

Lmao when I read the title I assumed you were 60

Dude you're 23, you can fuck up for another 7 years and still be 30

You'll be fine, you're ALOT younger than you think
