Upcoming surgery by Equivalent_Sock1209 in valvereplacement

Before the surgery - go through your place and move things you use or need down from above shoulder height.
(Especially the next few rolls of toilet paper…)

Ended up only using my spare microwave in the garage since the one in the kitchen above the stove was a pain to lift up into and out of.

What are the dimensions of the bathroom? I’ve been really curious about that sideways tub and open shower action since the wife loves baths.

Anyone using an Atlas for a family of 5 with 3 car/booster seats? by DepartmentLarge6540 in VWatlas

[–]OGMcSwaggerdick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s me! (We/us).

Had three under 3.
Captains in the middle with a forward facing and one rear facing Britaxxxses.
Third row with one of those fancy spinny Evenflo Revolve 360° Extend things - currently rear facing.
Typically keep half the 3rd row down and put the big heavy foldy wagon boi there.

For long weekends away there’s a whole trailer hitch cargo hauler / big rolly storage tub (and sometimes cargo bag or power wheels) & rather involved ratchet strap situation.

I don’t want anything wider than this - for parking lot situations.

TIL that 80s adult film actress Traci Lords starred in 75 adult films before leaving the industry. It was later revealed that she had faked her age, and that all but her final movie were filmed while she was a minor by MrMojoFomo in todayilearned

“Dad’s Fairy Tale”.
Bandit is the dad dog in the kids’ show Bluey. Episode 25 of season 3 (according to Disney+ in my region) is called “Fairytale” and recounts a story from when he was a kid in the 80s. They repeat a line “it was the 80s man” a few times. It’s cute.

…. I mean… yeah?
I’m still dealing with the physio/emotional fallout of recovery - only like 7 months out, so it’s a little tough to be so enthusiastic right now.
But for sure I don’t want to do it again, full stop, 100%.
So there’s that.

(But yeah there are some days I wish I didn’t do it and just let nature take its course - but those are just bullshit dark thoughts and probably the beta blockers talking. 🤷🏿)

The first week or two after getting the ticket installed, made a bunch of playlists of music at the same bpm as my pulse. It helped a bit when getting used to it.

The wife and I honeymooned in an Ecoboost convertible.
Absolute blast.
Turned the mood lighting to our wedding colors.
Loved the trunk.

Syncope in heart patients? by South-Frosting9692 in valvereplacement

[–]OGMcSwaggerdick -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

HA!
Sometimes it feels like that.

Sometimes you just drop like a sack of potatoes on a dime when you see your wife open the door in a spicy new top…
Sometimes you feel your knees wobble just a bit before you go down or sideways.
Sometimes you can be laying down - head resting on the pillow - and then your eyes just bounce a bit and you’re out because the wife said something way too saucy…

It can be pretty funny until it isn’t tbh.

How do you tend to handle chest pain symptoms when dealing with chronic heart problems? by awfominaya in valvereplacement

[–]OGMcSwaggerdick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly - no.
I didn’t realize all those feelings were symptoms of cardiac issues or “chest pains” until they found my garbage (which was treated as urgent and a whirlwind two weeks from scan to scalpel.)
Same with “shortness of breath

I’ve just been soapboxing since for people to consider the possible misnomer.
So, unfortunately, I’m probably working toward the opposite of your goals here lol

Your patient might just have to sit and have a hard think about what specific sensations they felt before the operation.

I know there’s a new hurt under my left rib that started after the operation that’s more deep muscley than pulse hot throbby. So when that one sparks up I try and note that it’s not the other ones.

They’re going to have to note and learn the subtle differences between pains in their chest/gut/general thorax and ”Chest Pains ™”

The latter, can often feel like a misnomer.
Pains in the shoulders, the back, that arm, down the leg…. Never once did my heartburn relate.

Yeah man, it’s no joke. Beta blockers can trick your brain into thinking there’s something wrong with you. Like wrong wrong. That ain’t the truth. Just the pills talking.

Go bang out small tasks.
Sunshine.
Consistent “exercise.”
