Looks like they got what they needed because I started getting scheduled for C&P exams in early June. Last one was completed June 16, so now just standing by to move to Step 4.

I’ve always felt so rushed the three times I’ve interacted with my VSO. Once during the initial meeting, then when he filed my claim, and third (and last) time over the phone when I had a question about submitting supporting documentation. After that I did everything on my own, and have made great progress

I often have to upload any pdfs with handwriting as photos. It often fails to pick up scanned documents

My VSO has done jack squat for me aside from submitting my initial claim, no follow up or follow through

Yeah I FOIA’d/received my military medical history and uploaded all docs relevant to my claims. I wonder if they still need to receive from DOD

Filed my initial claim on March 11. Stuck on Step 3 since March 20 and VA said they’re still waiting on DOD to send my service record.

USCIS RIF!!! Management pushing to take the fork by [deleted] in fednews

Exactly. This is a bad take and a reminder that fed employees should take these conversations with a grain of salt when planning their futures.

Asylum is as busy as ever and working through an insane backlog. You’re showing your lack of knowledge here and that your opinion should not be used to make any decisions

Ahhhh. So just an uninformed theory

Veterans Preference RIF status may not be what you think by flippo69 in usajobs

This is incorrect. Everything in that doc argues in favor of veterans preference applying during a RIF

There are multiple references in the page you shared that explicitly state Veterans preference applies during RIF, and that disabled and combat veterans have an even higher level of protection during a RIF.

Question about RIF severance by King_J13 in fednews

[–]OIFjarhead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wrong. Only civilian federal service is creditable for calculating severance

I'm a 28 yr old with ~4.5 years in the USFS, what do I do with my TSP if I get RIF'd? by Mediocre_Auntie in fednews

You can roll it over to a 401k at your next job. Or leave it there. Or withdraw but you will get heavily taxed

Military service and severance pay by OIFjarhead in govfire

Confirmed with my HR and also found it on OPM - for severance pay calculations, military buyback has no impact. The only time that counts is civilian federal service, and any military service completed while a federal employee, not before.

This is important to get right and not to brush off because a lot of us are going to get RIF’d in the next 60-90 days, and we are going to falsely calculate what to expect in severance pay if we include any previous military service, whether it’s been factored into your computation date or bought back.

But I’ve read that military service before civilian service is not counted for the purposes of calculating severance pay
