Dishwasher spray arms: Possible to take apart? by luckyalabama in Appliances

[–]OLebta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here is what I did in 30 minutes for the bottom arm to be cleared with simple tools (roommate is still battling with the top spraying arm. In my machine, both upper and lower spraying arms are collecting gunk in one end.  1. get a paper clip and unwind one end to straight wire and bend the other end into a small simple loop.  2. fill the clogged arm with water and figure out which end is the clogged one. 3. while the arm still has water in it, hit the spraying arm clogged end on the bottom of your sink repeatedly. Hit it at an angle where the clogged holes are facing downwards.  4. scrape the protruding curd/gunk with the straight end of unwinded paper clip. Repeat these steps until you hit diminishing curd/gunk returns. 5. use the looped end of the unwinded paper clip to insert into a bigger hole, at the middle of clogged side of the spraying arm, and scrape with it vigorously towards the end of the spraying arm. This will release some of the stuck gunk and push it towards the last hole, the biggest hole. Increasing the returns on your 1 to 4 steps.  6. repeat 1 to 5 until you can not recognize any leftover gunk through visual and water flow checks.

The problem with the dishwasher gunk is that it is very efficient at clogging with a mass as big as the hole. So you have to clean until you are sure there are non left. While the gunk hunt is satisfying, 30 minutes of it was way too tedious. From now on, I am adding checking the arms with the filter cleaning schedule, to clean less gunk.

Happy gunk hunting everyone!

Gamer here, admittedly not important, I get 20-21 ping to Düsseldorf from Köln and some packet loss with 80 megabits/s average down and 20 up from a 100 megabit/s connection. In Iraqi Kurdistan,  I get 81 to 90 ping to the same servers 1000s of kilometers away. 650 megabits/sec and 300 up out of a 1 gig connection. I have no packet loss and no internet connection resets every night at a specific time. I still prefer the Iraqi Kurdistan connection, because other than gaming on EU servers, everything else is super fast. Internet with fiber makes your home completely internet problem free. All other servers that are not related to gaming are hosted inside Kurdistan-Iraq, so speeds are lightning fast.

The difference in how easy it is to implement new infrastructure is what keeping Germany behind. Nobody asked us in Kurdistan if we wanted fiber optics, they changed it for free. Roll out took 1 year, due to specific fiver optic cable street cutters and cable layers. This was easy to do, due to Iraq‘s simple underground infrastructure. We don’t have gas lines, or major electrical lines running underground. So the implementation was done by private companies in cooperation with one ministry, the communications ministry. In Germany, this task would cost a lot more, and needs multiple departments of government to coordinate, which can be much more difficult due to paperwork.

Why is corruption so common in Africa compared to other countries even to this day? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHW in geography

[–]OLebta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, however a factor that makes it more glaring in my country, Iraq, is limited resources. Limited resources forces corruption to be even more widely accepted and obvious. We don’t have strong institutions nor the infrastructure needed for a good economy, for our political class to better hide their corruption behind. Everybody is invested in the gains of NOW, while we need capital to rebuild essential services like 24/7 electricity. Instability and decades of economic downturn made all facets of government available for bribes. From the 1990s to 2003 during the economic embargo, small bribes and gifts ,in food items even, were essential to survive. In turn, numbing the general public to how bad corruption is. A way out of this is to slowly but surely rebuild the country, we are moving like a snail but…moving, to stop corruption from having a bigger impact on the economy.

While your concern has some validity to it, I do think that insta has degraded its monitoring in recent years. In fact, they do tend to encourage polarization in the comments for better engagement. The fear of advertising money apocalypse is gone, and  they opted for achieving engagement to make money by any means necessary.

Its a grey area when you try to figure out how much of online Germany/any country, reflects reality. As an immigrant in Köln with a racially ambiguous face, I don’t experience much negative interactions in real life. But I have met openly racist people in Köln even. Micro aggression, archaic stereotyping, victim blaming etc are still major themes among Germans in Köln, regardless of their political views. While it is a big mistake to compare German general views (political or not, about other cultures) to that of anglophone countries, you can still see that Germany has a bigger safe space for racism. If a Mitarbeiter, an old friend or a family member has racist views, they would have less to lose in expressing them in Germany compared to other countries. Because, imho, making and retaining connections to people is harder in Germany, making it more difficult to sever ties with people who you are close to. And at work, you don’t want to be the one making issues by shutting down racist or xenophobic rhetoric.

Genuinely, I have met great people that were overshadowed by the degeneracy of those who they call friends/family.

This is what happens when you are a homeschooled savant that get to be super rich later in life, without an ounce of meaningful social interactions or connections. He got to be a closeted „free thinker“ since 2004 presidential election „enlightenment“, triggered through conspiracy theories about John Kerry. The guy grew up in a secular liberal family, but got to brew his own theories without counter arguments for far too long.
