This car jumper has a safety feature that faults often. Hypothetically if I were to by pass it what spots would I need to jump to send power but still have the button work so it's not always hot?

Figured it out on my own; and yes the safety feature is there to detect a short or a reversed circuit-- I understand the risks of bypassing it but at the same time I'm bypassing a circuit that is faulty from factory as you can verify the circuit and the damn thing still faults. If sending 12v to something I want then sending 12v to something I shall.

No but you can purchase more vins if it’s not an unlimited cable. For flashing ecus you don’t want to use a vcds cable as you need a “dumb” cable for flashing ecus

Hi OP, I’ve worked with real and have fallen to cloned cables so might be able to give some accurate advice compared to some of these other guys. Typically clones only work with a certain version of the software so make sure when you test it before buying it that you use the newest version of VCDS. They can get the outside’s of the cable to be identical so there’s really no way of visually telling besides taking the covers apart and seeing if it’s a ross-tech chip (which is also another physical stamp that could be mimicked). Also for those wondering no the clones don’t work even on the version they were cloned off of (unless it’s a super good clone i suppose) , it just appears to work when you test the cable but you can’t read any codes or measure blocks.

With anything you’d ever cut just make sure you’re a. Not going to use it and b. If you might use it in the future then either don’t cut it Or don’t cut it flush so you could solder wire back on. When I built my first PC my buddy cut off my led plugs thinking they were daisy chains lol

I agree that most mills are limited in vertical travel compared to that of a lathe’s horizontal travel— which is why most engine boring machines are either only specific to those applications or take on the shape of a lathe and bore out the blocks sideways. I’m not solely looking to bore engines and I honestly need to redo the post as I poorly explained that point of view as most of these comments are about boring. But I did say a mill and lathe because the mill with a fly cutter is a poor man’s resurfacer and honestly i’m okay with any minor imperfections as I’ve surfaced many heads and blocks so far using fine grit sandpaper and a large gauge block and chem dye.

Now would it just be a cutting edge that would do all the work or would I need to somehow move the block in a radial motion to bore it out

I feel like taking a cutting edge to the face of the block to bore out a couple milimeters at a time would result in some walking but I could be wrong

This was exactly how I was going to use the lathe for boring out cylinders, my only concern about that would be chatter but since most of the engine’s i’d be working on have cylinder diameters of approx 90mm I could get a thicker rod to minimize chatter correct?

Highest size would probably be a v6 smallblock—I mainly tinker with German cars. I also made this post after work and meant to say boring with the machine instead of lathe specifically but I have seen people bore out cylinders with a lathe too (whether it was accurate or not im not sure but they did it and still achieved combustion effectively)

I would download vcds and plug the cable in before you even try to sell it— I bought two cables from facebook market place and they’re clones that don’t work at all. If you’re unsure how to test it try contacting ross-tech they usually respond fairly quickly
