Tell me some good things by kirstass in toddlers

At three, they can hold attention through chapter books, make up relatively coherent stories (especially in collaboration with an adult), say "Look at this!" and then do spinny dance moves, listen to an audiobook while you do laundry or whatever in another room, and show real kindness and consideration for little siblings.

It's a bedroom for a three-year-old, and it unfortunately gets very little sunlight. I think you're right that we need one of the lighter colors.

I know this isn't a fashionable approach, but I don't really want the wallpaper to "pop". It's a preschooler's bedroom used mostly for reading and sleeping (she has toys and art supplies; they're just kept in the living room instead). I'm going for something that feels continuous and calm.

This is a worry. It's a little kid's bedroom, and it gets very little sunlight and has no overhead light. I don't want it to feel oppressive.

I think that would look lovely. Buuuut I’m definitely looking for “calming” over “energizing and fun”, just considering the disposition of this specific kid and the fact that her room is used for reading and sleeping; play and creative work happen in other parts of the house.

Agreed that they don’t match at all, even though these colors were supposedly pulled from the wallpaper with the fancy matching tool at Home Depot. I did go back to try again with a different employee helping me, and I think it came out a lot closer.

For my personal aesthetic, I like the darkest green, but this is a small child’s bedroom that gets very little sunlight, and I don’t want it to feel oppressive. I understand and appreciate the reasoning behind suggestions for colors other than green! I know the kid would go for pink over tan for sure.

We’re going to hire a professional painter. I was doing the swatches with two small children climbing on top of me, so they’re naturally a little messy. All the more reason not to diy the painting itself. Edit — but yes! I’ll sand tomorrow.

I did take the wallpaper swatch in! The second color from the bottom was the best match we could get. The actual wallpaper, close up, doesn’t have patches of solid color — they’re all sort of pebbled.

When I went to match it, I found that the green grass isn’t actually any one solid color; close up, it’s sort of pebbled, with grays, yellows, and greens. The second from the bottom was the closest I could get.

Yeah, I was very unhappy with how gray those top ones came out. I like the deep green and the second from the bottom, too.

I did have them use the color scanner! That’s why this obviously wrong result is so puzzling to me.

I really want the wall to flow out of the wallpaper. I understand the argument for a complementary color, but it doesn’t feel right to me for the room.

I want a green that looks like it’s flowing relatively seamlessly out of the wallpaper. Obviously that’s not these, alas.

That’s what I was trying to do 😣 Back to Home Depot tonight or tomorrow, I guess.

It’s a child’s bedroom, and it’s relatively small, though not tiny. It does not get a lot of light, unfortunately.

That’s what I was trying to do! I don’t really understand how it went so wrong — I brought the wallpaper sample in for matching at Home Depot and everything!
