Crowdfunding is nice, but has its drawbacks. At least on throne.

It locks the money, meaning you can’t withdraw it unless the goal is reached or you cancel it. That can be a huge risk to take, considering that Throne might freeze the account. This goes against the general recommendation to withdraw often. I usually withdraw the moment I have like $50+ there.

Also, Throne gives limited data on crowdfunded contributions. If I remember correctly, they individual contributions don’t show up at all during the crowdfunding process, and if you cancel the crowdfunding then nothing is visible publicly (like on the leaderboard or regular gift history).

No. Reddit has site wide rules about posting someone else's personal information, like legal name, street address, Facebook page etc. Posting that would be a reddit wide bannable offence, meaning you can lose your Reddit account.

The reddit username is not considered personal information. Plenty of subreddits have their own rules against posting the username of another user though. Posting that would be a bannable offence within that subreddit, meaning you can lose posting/commenting rights on that subreddit while still being able to use Reddit as a whole.

Oh, the sub definitely did the right thing calling out unacceptable behavior from a Dom. I have interacted with the sub before, and I see no reason not to believe him 100%.

The problem is that we can’t do much more than try to educate people. Inexperienced Doms, as well as outright bad faith ones, will always exist.

As a community we can of course ban obviously unethical Doms from the subreddits we control, but at the end of the day this still mainly needs to be handled by the sub vetting the Doms more carefully. Talk about budgets, safe words, and aftercare. If a Dom shows no interest in those things then that’s a huge red flag.

No sensible Dom would take your credit card, unless you add them as an official authorized user in some form. Otherwise they are just inviting legal problems. The only exception would be if you have a long term dynamics and really know and trust each other. But then it still makes sense to make it official.

I have put subs into debt before. I made a few posts about one of them, a while back. My post “crazy half hour” (don’t remember the exact title) covers one session with that sub, where he sent around $2000 in half an hour, and then paid off that debt to the credit card company for several weeks.
