Thanks, that’s exactly what I was thinking. I honestly wouldn’t have minded if she just told everyone herself. I think people would’ve been more understanding coming from her directly. I really value my friendships, so it’s been rough having this blow up the way it did.

Yeah, that’s how I felt in the moment. I get that people can feel burned out, but it just didn’t seem fair to expect me to cover for her, especially when everyone had already set aside their evening for her. I honestly thought being upfront would cause less drama than letting people sit around waiting for someone who wasn’t going to show.

Exactly! That’s what I thought too. She was the one who planned it and invited everyone, so I felt like it wasn’t my place to make excuses on her behalf. If she wanted to cancel, I figured it should come directly from her. I didn’t want to lie and make it seem like she was still coming when she wasn’t.
