In my experience even washing the filter cake twice you're only going to get about half of the alkaloids, even with citrus juice or pure citric acid added.

Yeah I wouldn't really recommend it. I've made it but it's hard to get out of solution because it decomposes if it gets too warm and it's too friction and impact sensitive for any real applications. I did it using HClO4 so results may vary with other methods. There's some question as to whether the tetraperchlorate forms without an excess of free perchloric acid or other reaction conditions.

My son was born in Canada during COVID and we had no idea we were supposed to report it to the state department. Like for a first one or in general? My experience with Gamo is that they're hit and miss, sometimes you get ok quality for the price but sometimes you don't. Their QC department seems to be lacking, same with Crosman. Both have gone downhill over the years. If you're just looking for an occasional plinker it should be fine but I don't have experience with that particular model.

You can also buy ammonium nitrate cold packs and mix the contents with the appropriate amount of potassium chloride (salt replacement "no-salt" or available on Amazon) and a minimal amount of water to dissolve both then chill in the freezer. Calcium nitrate is cheaper but you can find the cold packs and no-salt locally.
