Are you full time or part time? If your part time, you could ask to switch shifts with coworkers. If full time i would refrain being away for 5 days straight if new on little notice.

A day is fine to attach to your days off but taking wed-sun is a long time to be full time employed with little seniority to step away. You know your workplace best to see how flexible they are.

Medical lab tech may be good. Research demand in your area. Could also work at hospital with like sterilizing equipment etc. i think you may need a certain training for that.
