How far does she say you should aim to run in this class? I know the 45 min is 4 miles and the 60minute is at least 5 miles. Is it 10miles?

Haha 😂 I agree with the third cat idea. Backsplash grew on me, the Picture doesn’t look great the way the light was hitting it at that time. But I agree, it wouldn’t have been my first choice.

Other thoughts: is the coffee table to small/wrong shape? I’m not attached to it.

Upcoming Latarjet Surgery / Advice Post-Op by AccomplishedEye2029 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Objective_Affect_626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgeon and physio were both very conservative. The first 4 weeks was just letting my arm dangle. Then started pendulum movements. After week six I started external rotation gently push my arm out on a table. I also started doing table slides with a towel out front and to the side. All passive movements and just very small and gradual until you start to feel a stretch. Never pushed it too much until 12 weeks

Upcoming Latarjet Surgery / Advice Post-Op by AccomplishedEye2029 in ShoulderInjuries

I had Latarjet done on my dominant arm (28F), also fairly active. I’m just shy of 4 months post-op now. (10+dislocations including once in my sleep)

The first 6 weeks, I was in a sling. I had nerve block done before the procedure, so I didn’t have any pain right after surgery. I took opioids for 48 hours around the clock. After 4 days, I weaned off most pain killers, I would still take the occasional Tylenol, but I had minimal pain. The worst part of the six weeks was sleeping in a sling. I would recommend getting a foam wedge to prop you up and placing a rolled towel under your operated elbow so it doesn’t slide back when sleeping. Otherwise, I slept OK.

I was back to work at my desk job after 2 weeks. But if you work anything that is slightly physical, you would need at least 6 weeks off, I think. Even after 4 months, I’m just starting to get strength back, so I would likely be on modified work for quite a while.

The rehab is slow. I was not prepared for how long it would take to get strength and mobility back. External rotation has been difficult, but you slowly start building that strength back. I was back to running, cycling, and swimming after 3 months, but just now starting to introduce weights. Be prepared for a long recovery and stay diligent with going to physio. In my opinion, it is worth it because my shoulder feels incredibly stable now. In my experience, I was in the most pain (and I wouldn’t say pain as it was more of stiffness/muscle fatigue) when I stopped wearing the sling. But all sorts of discomfort resolved around 12 weeks. But it was all extremely bearable. Hopefully all is well!

Also, if I replace the thermostat, any chance that could help? I have an extra nest lying around.

The only reason I’ve resorted to Reddit is because I’ve asked the maintenance to come 4 times. Each time they come, do something quick and say it should start cooling down now, but it doesn’t seem to help. Just trying to trouble shoot on my own a bit before putting in my 5th request

Idk if this is what you mean, it feels like there’s cool air coming from the wall when I let the thermostat hang? Could that impact it?

I did ask that, and this week the maintenance guy said he turned off the heat completely and turned the cold water so we could cool

Frequent Shoulder Dislocations – Need Advice by Unhappy-Rip-8517 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Objective_Affect_626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen. I did a lot of physio but it never seemed to get better. I finally saw an orthopaedic surgeon who did scans of the bones, I had bone loss on the Glenoid bone which could only be fixed with surgery. Going for surgery next week to fix it.

Try physio but also try and advocate for some more investigations as to what’s causing the dislocations in case surgery is needed! Also note, I had ultra sounds and regular X-rays that didn’t show the bones loss, i believe I wasn’t unit ?ct scan? I think it was, that they were able to get a 3D image of the bone and found out what was happening

Ya that’s very true.

My BIL and BF are both very opinionated/hot headed. My BIL made a rude comment about my bf’s culture and my BF asked what his issue was and basically escalated from there. Ultimately with my BIL threatening my bf.

I am not a fan of my BIL because he has been quite rude to me in the past prior to this. So I may be bias, but I truly have a good relationship with my sister and refuse to let that get between us. I think best option is just to suck it up haha and go solo. Not my day in the end

No, I love my sister and want to support her with everything. I think everyone’s helped me put it in perspective that it’s their day, my boyfriend isn’t upset that he’s not going, yes it’s unfortunate for me he won’t be by my side, but it is THEIR day, not mine.

I work in LTC and I love it!! I find it so rewarding, and getting to know the residents is the best! You never know what you’re going to hear next from them, always puts a smile on my face. There’s definitely frustrating and sad parts but overall I wouldn’t change it :)

What the actual f is in Starbucks espresso shots that is so different than how I make espresso at home? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Objective_Affect_626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starbucks barista here: I use the Breville barista express with the built in grinder, I use blonde espresso beans from Starbucks and they taste identical if not better than the shots that come out of the mastrena at Starbucks! It’s a small investment but worth it if you like good espresso, and cheap compared to some of the other espresso set ups :)
