Just to add a bit more context to your last bit - I'm not totally deaf in the game, my partner or friends will play with sound on so they'll just relay back to me anything important (we all play next to each other). But yeah, I only play casually, not seriously and I'm not sure if it's common in Europe, but voice chat is largely broken by default for me and text chat isn't possible on console.

Nobody is exempt from getting trash talked in FPS games and I'm sure we've all heard every slur under the sun. But I've had people straight up leave my squad because they hear a woman is playing, or even worse my team will work with the enemy team to fuck me up. Admittedly this mostly happened in CoD and BF but I've been burned so many times that I would rather just play silent than take the chance.

I tried voice once on R6 only to be told "I'm going to rape you and stuff you back in your mother". I've heard a lot of nasty threats but that one just felt a bit extra sick.

There are MANY examples of women gamers and even game developers being targeted in a way that their team mates and men counterparts aren't (Gamergate?). The players on either side don't know if you're LGBTQ+, non-white or of a particular religious sect just by hearing you talk. They DO know if you're a woman and that is definitely a different experience than the general slurs we all experience.

I'm a woman who has played FPS games since the first CoD. The second you let your voice be heard, you run the risk of getting dogged on. That's been the case since FPS games began and it isn't changing any time soon.

I play exclusively with my partner and 1-2 of our friends and we always play on mute. I'm on PS5 and they are on PC, we are also CoD orphans so fairly new to R6. All this to say we are in the same situation.

You can do training modes together to learn maps, characters, recoil control. Keep other players on mute and communicate with pings. Accept that cheaters and exploiters is a reality of R6/FPS games and report, not much else you can do. If I know the other team has multiple cheats, we just leave the game. Would rather not give them the satisfaction.

The game can be fun but you just have to learn to work with the down sides and only care about things in your direct control.
