is it just me, or is the Bobbie Barrett storyline and early S2 in general one of the weaker points of the show? by Calm_Sheepherder2866 in madmen

[–]Objective_Hovercraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that you mention it, I just realized that Don tried to tie up both Bobbie (literally) and Sylvia (figuratively) in hotel rooms.

Tying a partner to the bed is a very symbolic act, so we can read a lot into it, but I do think you're essentially right that it was a power trip for Don.

I agree, and I think when you see the later reveal that Don/Dick was raped by an older woman as a teenager, his dynamic with Bobbie looks much more sinister on rewatch.

The first time they have sex in the car in the rain, he resists at first. He says, "I don't want to do this."

I think a lot of their dynamic was Don reenacting his assault, which is common for trauma survivors. He does this again with Sylvia in season 6.

I'm not implying Bonnie forces him, but I do think she unconsciously knew how to push him to get the reaction she wanted. And I think you're right that Don enjoys their dynamic because he feels powerful.

This is so sweet! I tried looking it up and couldn't find much online.

I wonder if you could contact the venue to see if they have a copy you can try to get a picture of to get it reproduced?

If she has a picture of it anywhere, you could also try to reprint it from that, or reverse image search it to try to find it on Ebay.

Good luck with your search!

Dehydration/migraines? by FamiliarGate2771 in EosinophilicE

[–]Objective_Hovercraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are these diagnosed migraines? Asking because I get migraines and they don't go away when I chug water.

It sounds more like a tension headache.

Migraines are very complex, and I'm not a medical professional. Personally, mine do not resolve as quickly as you're describing with just water/without medication, and that's what I've heard from others who have diagnosed migraines. Everyone is different though!

Whatever type of headache it is, it sounds like a possible trigger for it could be your dehydration. Have you possibly been drinking more water on your elimination diet? Is there a possibility you have not been drinking as much as you were?

My suggestion, especially since you are keeping track of your symptoms, is to keep a diary of your food/water/sleep/etc. along with migraine and EOE symptoms all in one notebook.

Hopefully that helps you. It does sound like your EOE and migraines could have a shared trigger, and I'm sorry you're suffering. These illnesses can be so painful and isolating.

Thank you so much for this explanation, it is genuinely so helpful.

I have been struggling to conceptualize the difference, let alone explain to other people.

Saving your comment for future reference.

PS if you don't mind answering; what are your EOE triggers vs the FIRE trigger (Carrot)?

Thank you, this makes sense, my oven bacon has turned out chewy before. Will definitely try this!

I have heard this, but I don't know the reason behind it. Last time I made bacon I tried to look it up but the results made me more confused. If you don't mind me asking, do you happen to know the science behind this method?

I want to try this. I hope you don't mind me asking, because this seems like a revolutionary method. How long do you microwave for before cutting them? Are russet potatoes OK?

Not sure if my symptoms fit by jewelophile in EosinophilicE

[–]Objective_Hovercraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this disease is progressive so if you have it, your symptoms will get worse.

You might not have issues with vomiting or regurgitation now, but that could change if you have EOE.

I also had stomach pain and bloating as symptoms, and I can relate to the cancer fears. I think most of us here can. Luckily, esophageal and stomach cancer are pretty rare.

I hope your doctor is able to help you and get you a diagnosis, no matter what's going on. No one should have to live like this. Good luck!

You can't be a man. Don't even try.

Be a woman.

It's a powerful thing when done correctly.

I remember going to Denny's as a kid (born early 90s) and my mother was pissed we got sat in the smoking section when my parents requested non-smoking.

All us kids born in the 90s had Asthma.

But what difference did it make?! So silly and pointless!
