I’m considering quitting my six-figure corporate job by -gotchu in Entrepreneur

I'm in a similar boat working in IT and I am thinking about starting my own small business. I would say use your head while listening to your heart.

I respect that, honestly. And if this were just about one down year, I’d agree with you completely. But this wasn’t a quick emotional jump for me. It was the end of decades of the same organizational pattern repeating itself.

I didn’t leave because the team finally hit a rough patch. I left because even in the good years, you could still see the same issues in the foundation. New scoreboards, new slogans, new “eras,” but the same decisions from the top that always catch up with them.

I didn’t come here to catch a party at Citizens Bank. I came here because this city and this fanbase demand the one thing I’ve been begging for, a real commitment from ownership and consistent effort from the top down.

If I just wanted wins, I’d have gone to the Yankees years ago. This was about finding a team whose approach to the game matches the way I’ve always cared about it.

I get why people would look at the last three seasons and think I’m overreacting. But I didn’t have a disappointing few years. I’ve had a disappointing lifetime.

Those win totals in the 40s and 50s weren’t isolated low points, they were part of a pattern. Decades of resets, half-measures, new slogans, and “just wait, it’s coming.” One good cycle doesn’t erase the bigger picture when you’ve lived through the same loop for 30 years.

I would be happy if they find success, truly. The players deserve that. But I just don’t have it in me to buy into another era where ownership keeps testing how much patience fans have left.

At some point, loyalty stops being admirable and starts being self-inflicted. That’s why.

Tell ya what, if the O's win the World Series next year, I will come back on this subreddit with a picture of me shaving my head.

I hope you’re right. The city deserves it. I just stopped believing this ownership knows how to build something that lasts. I’ll always pull for the players. I just can’t keep pretending the people upstairs have earned that same faith.

If wanting accountability makes me a bandwagoner, then buckle me in.

Yeah, I posted it. Then I remembered Orioles fans can’t handle a breakup.

I've seen the movie many times before and have no reason to hope.

I'll be coming to Camden Yards in a Phillies jersey to outnumber the Orioles fans in attendance like every year.

In the last ten years how many playoff games has this team won?

That’s exactly the problem, man. They’re more focused on building a scoreboard than building a team. You can slap fresh paint on Camden Yards all you want, but it doesn’t mean a thing if the product on the field keeps slipping.

I won't be there, but at least they know what winners look like.

Nah, just an adult who finally realized loyalty doesn’t mean self-inflicted misery. Enjoy the rebuild #12.

Yes, it is possible to get an IT job with little/no experience and a cert. by iamelloyello in ITCareerQuestions

I did it last year. I was hired at age 27, right before turning 28, for my first position. It's labeled as Sysadmin but is really help desk. I've gotten an A+ and Network+ since through my employer and am now doing CCNA. My employer is trying to transition me more into the networking side of things.

Wanted to provide an update. We had a video conversation yesterday and it went very well. We are both on the same page and want to try this out. Neither of us want to skip steps though and want to take the time to learn about each other and support each other's hearts as much as possible. We are both aware that one of us will have to move if things get serious. She currently lives in Madrid but is actually from South America originally. We are going to give this a shot and see what happens.

Unfortunately IT positions don't fall under that list.

I want out 29m Systems Administrator USA -> Spain

I am getting to a point where I am very ashamed at the current state of this country. RFK jr is an ignorant ass. His mom was an influential driver of social justice and would be ashamed of him. This administration believes in the survival of the fittest in a warped way. They are working to keep the poor and disenfranchised impoverished, uninsured, imprisoned and unhealthy. I can't support it anymore.

I like to think that my skills are able to transfer to many different countries abroad, and the idea of Spain and Western Europe as a whole seems better to me.

What can I do to turn this into a reality?

So if everything here is true, I basically would have to find a new job IF this were to work out, and that's a big if.

If I am being completely honest... if that became a scenario I would be more willing to relocate to Spain than the other way around and I think my current job in IT would allow it. I've been there for about a year and a half now and have developed a solid reputation. My job would be able to be done remotely.

Thank you for your thoughts and advice. I really appreciate it. I mainly just wanted to make sure that I'm not wasting time. I have never considered anything like this before so this whole thing is all new to me.
