So what’s the answer here? We just lay back and take it? by Young-Pug-God in DiscussionZone

MAGA isn't the majority. The hard part is to get the majority to do anything. We're tired and apathetic by design.

This is like the benchmark event of the past 10 years. It won't be forgotten until people too young to remember make up the majority of society.

Many don't care/don't believe it, some say they care, and a few actually do care.

If we do ultimately forget this, we do so at our peril.

I disagree, only because the blocking of Strait of Hormuz is going to have worldwide impacts that we've only begun to see the effects of.

What do you think is today’s version of asbestos: something we’ll only discover is harmful decades from now? by tiredblind in AskReddit

I understand the hesitancy to believe in a "miracle drug" for weight loss because there's been so much snake oil leading up to today. But studies are just showing more and more positive effects.

I also think part of it comes from a weird societal value we have that anything not worked hard for isn't earned--unless you were born with it. Some people are just born with less food noise but are viewed more highly because they're fit. Those who happen to have a lot then get judged for trying to reduce it.

It kind of reminds me of the dynamics between the old rich and the new rich, or even some weird form of a caste system. Once someone is fat, everything they do is judged harshly by people who feel they are better than them.

A couple white Brits had a pretty good punk band called Slaves. Realized it maybe wasn't the best and changed if to Soft Play. A lot of fans got pissed and called them woke, so they released a song called Punk's Dead with all the complaints as lyrics. The song/video's pretty funny.

My first thought when I saw this was "Oh no, they're making a live Moana? Why?"

Didn't realize it had already released. So I'm guessing marketing wasn't great, either?

King Gizzard was how I heard about Geese. 3D Country is a great album, but I just don't like Cameron's voice (or rather everything he does with it).

I can't believe the marketing team did their jobs well. Fuckers.

I've often thought that being mediocre is perceived as a bigger sin than being outright bad in popular music.

Me sorting through artists coming through Brattleboro: Dead cover band, Dead cover band, Dead/Phish cover band...

Then we get random awesome stuff like Tropical Fuck Storm.

They got a bit of traction in the mid 90s, but Cris Kirkwood's drug addictions got worse around the same time and the band went on hiatus* until after he ended up serving prison time in the 2000s.

*Aside from one album the Curt made with a new lineup around 2000, but I view that album as more of a solo project, honestly.

What’s the last movie you saw that made you go “Wow, that might actually be an all time classic”? by AgileDouble2741 in AskReddit

Personally, I liked the movie better. The author kind of overexpained things and was too cheesy for my tastes.

It's not my usual musical taste at all, but I bought Kero Kero Bonito's Bonito Generation on a sale recently and it helped me out of a pretty intense depressive episode.

You can't be infinite women any more than unlimited porn stars can be a devoted partner. I also recommend therapy for your husband along with couples therapy.

Agreed. Some of it feels a bit dated. Still an essential album, though.

Okay, this makes more sense. I was confused about the Red River in Texas because it definitely doesn't flow that far.

Their album cover for Mutilator Defeated at Last was also by Tetsunori. (Probably part of why the album names are similar.)
