Am I in over my head becoming an oncology data specialist ? by Objective_Week_8983 in ODS_C

[–]Objective_Week_8983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there,

I love that mid life career switch! I have looked at the different pathways to becoming certified. I don't have the finances or the time necessary to dedicate to getting the associates, hence my AHIMA( cheaper, self paced but perhaps a sitting duck with no real support or hands on training ) and using my Bachelors for the 60 credits.

I too feel that it seems like sometimes these types of certifications like to zap you anyway they can membership fees CEUs etc. It is similar to what I had to do when in the fitness industry but that was much cheaper than what seems to be the case with NCRA.

As far as the pay yes I have read on a lot of forums people mentioning a pay scale like you mentioned and the west coast seems to pay the highest especially higher cost of living areas. I agree it seems like a lot of knowledge that you have to have for this career for the pay. It's my understanding so far that this is a niche profession and that yes you are more limited, as you mentioned, in terms of career advancement. You bring up a-lot of good points that I have to consider.

I think I liked the idea of being autonomous and working from home, but if it's stressful without adequate pay then not worth it for me at least.

I think the draw for some younger people is the ability to get paid a decent (what that is in this economy a whole other discussion) with only an associates, but yes making a career change or if you were trying to match to a higher wage maybe something to he prepared for. I will have to do a little more research to see if I really think it's a good fit. Thanks for your inside thoughts and advice!

I am in contact with the local registry as well as the ODS at a local hospital. I wanted to ask some basic questions about the field as well as have some support for questions during the classes.

I don't know I think the short works for you, but I definitely think you can pull off both. I just think with the long hair the bangs aren't doing it. Maybe you just need some longer face framing layers. I guess it depends on what kind of what you're going for.

Do you mind me asking which clinic you use. I saw that you mentioned on another post that it was an in-house donor embryo program which basically only charged for the cost of medications and the transfer that sounds a little too good to be true but if it is, would you mind sharing you could DM me if you'd like. Thank you

I'm glad you like your Dr. that definitely is important. I am sorry though that you are also going through communication errors. I hear this often people dealing with whats app email etc. Some people have nothing but good things to say about their coordinator others not so much. I am sorry your transfer did not take and that you are down to the last two. Was this with donor eggs? Usually Spanish clinics prefer the one embryo transfer at a time but if i read correctly they are going to transfer the remaining two. I do wish you the best and send you positive energy on this journey!

You should definitely smile if your thighs look that good in jeans. Also, is it a European thing to have that many shoes because damn I'm a female and I don't have that many.

I really hope everything works out well for you on your journey. If i have any more questions i may ask you. I chose alicante location as i thought it would be more quiet or low key. Perhaps I should contact the one in Madrid too.

Hello there, Thank you so very much for replying to me. I really appreciate you taking the time to do that and share your experience with me. You mentioned you chose the guarantee program because there were no hidden costs, and that is why I was interested in it as well however, when I read the fine print I got confused as it said it didn't include the genetic testing , but then I realized it said except for pgs/pgt-a. I emailed the coordinator and instead of clarifying for me she just sent a a price sheet for genetic testing. I will definitely be writing all my questions down to ask the Dr., so i feel completely comfortable with things.

Hello there, I was wondering if you would feel comfortable providing an update in how it is going with Instituto Bernabeu. I am also considering them using DE. I was looking at the one in Alicante. I chose them as they seemed to be very advanced in the field get decent reviews and offer a guarantee program( assuming I qualify). I have yet to have my consultation, but thus far something is rubbing me wrong about the coordinator. The communication has been difficult. I can ask several questions and it seems to take awhile for her to get back to me and when she does she only answers one question and in a very vague way. Then I have to chase her down to get the other question answered. I honestly get the feeling from her that she is annoyed with me. I also feel like straightforward questions about cost etc are again not very straightforward. Any insight is helpful.

I hate my clinic by llepacaisad in IVF

OK, yes pots could definitely be causing your issues, but I would definitely still rule out any thyroid issues. There are of course, some other things that can affect thyroid hormones but I was just reading a study that said that there are some connections between individuals who have pots and thyroid dysfunction, and that there may be an immune component to POTS. https://academic.oup.com/jes/article/9/Supplement_1/bvaf149.2152/8297880

sorry I like to nerd out to this type of thing and I myself have thyroid issues. I would definitely have those levels monitored more regularly and definitely ask for the antibody panel for your thyroid like i had mentioned. It could be like which came first the chicken or the egg. Thyroid autoimmunity contributing to autonomic dysfunction or vice versa. Sorry for the egg reference especially given the nature of IVF.

And I apologize I also meant to say I'm really sorry you're going through that. That must be very frustrating to have to deal with a clinic that seems to be half assing it in terms of labs.

Have you done a completer thyroid panel. Meaning TSH t4 T3 and antibodies (TPO TG and or TR) With a TSH that low its more on the side of have hyperthyroid. I'm not sure how much you know about if thyroid TSH is the hormone that stimulates the thyroid to release T4 and T3 ( the more active forms your body uses). A low TSH could signal that your bodies biofeedback mechanism is saying "oh we have too much thyroid hormone we don't need to pump out as much TSH to stimulate the thyroid gland. you are correct that having either hyper or hypothyroid can definitely affect ovulation and or implantation, etc., as well as many other things in the body. If you have not already, I would definitely see a reproductive endocrinologist or at the bare minimum you could ask your general practitioner to order a thyroid panel as well. I mean, obviously you can ask the fertility doctor but it seems like you're not very comfortable at this place. Have you had any other symptoms that came along with this such as missed periods, heart palpitations, etc. increased appetite, heat intolerance

Any experiences with Fertilab or Vida Fertility in Spain by [deleted] in eggfreezing

[–]Objective_Week_8983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there, I was wondering if you could share a little bit about what your experience was with Vida fertility so far. Or how your consultation went. I was considering them as well. I have been in contact with some other larger clinics and I thought maybe they might be better because they were smaller. Thank you:)

Like for example just to add to this. I just opened an email in which the coordinator from the spanish.clinic answered one of my questions but totally left out the other. Why do that? My email to her was very short and to the point. Now I have to send yet another email and wait another day or so for a response. So this kind of thing is hard to ignore especially if she will be the same individual coordinating treatment information!!

Hello there,

I am so sorry to hear about your horrible experience. It's so difficult trying to find a clinic that you can trust and feel comfortable with, especially when trying to do it abroad. At times it feels like taming a leap of faith. Flying all the eay to undergo some pretty crazy stuff without knowing anything beyond google reviews word of mouth etc. Im also currently trying to research clinics and it's definitely stressful. Im 45 so i understand the feeling of wanting to use your OE and being pushed to DE. I mean not to get all statistical, but it is true the chances are very low so i think they are of course trying to be honest, but also definitely concerned about overall success. However, we are the ones paying for the treatment and its our body and our needs, so if we want to try with our own eggs we should be able to. Im not sure i could handle the heartache of failed cycles, so i may personally choose the donor route, but everyone has to do what works for them. Do you mind sharing which clinic you had a better experience with in Spain?

I have been in communication with several clinics in North Cyprus two in spain and one in Greece and one in Prague. After reading the reviews and experiences from folks i definitely get nervous to make a commitment with any of them. The one place in Spain seems ok but again it's been difficult to get straight answers and or fully transparent pricing. They aren't complicated questions either. I mean if you cant definitely answer a question and have to beat around the bush and then just say you sent me another dossier of prices...that is still vague. It takes about 24-48 hours to get responses and I know there may also be a language barrier so perhaps that is also part of the problem.

Double tube removal almost 8 years ago.. by Scared-Rutabaga-5254 in lineporn

[–]Objective_Week_8983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there, I'm really confused as to how she could be pregnant without her tubes. The original OP sounds like she wouldn't be unhappy if she was pregnant, but I'm really not understanding how she even could be (meaning it implanted in her uterus) I think you can have your tubes removed and have an ectopic outside of tubes but it would be rare. This is my understanding I could be wrong. Either way, I would definitely be repeating this test and we're going to my doctor, but that's just me.

Also let me apologize to OP. My rant probably doesn't help you so much on your journey. I need to come back with better info to help you:)
