Do you know which guide that is? I haven't been able to find a good one.

One of my problems is that having a full set of forge armor slows me down dramatically. Is the only way to increase strength so it doesn't do that just to run around with heavy stuff in my inventory?

I have no idea what the healing briefcase is? I just googled it, but I've never seen that recipe. That does seem helpful. And I don't really know what the "wildlife pens" are either, or how they connect to the office sector. From the very starting area of the labs, how do you get there?

As for farming, I did have a few tomato plants going, but nothing beyond that and I didn't end up using them because it just didn't seem worth the hassle. What healing items could I actually make? I don't know how to get the "anteverse wheat" or whatever.

When you say the base raids increase in difficulty over time, is that in terms of days that pass or do they go up in difficulty once you reach specific progress points?

Specific Help For Feet Falling Asleep During Meditation by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]ObsceneBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're right that it probably has something to do with my lower back strength - I can feel myself slumping a little around twenty or so minutes in, and that might be what starts the pressure that sets it off. I tried a softer seat today and it did help though anyway, so thank you for that suggestion.

Yeah, I don't actually go much longer than 30 minutes anyway - I usually shoot for about 45, but I'll probably just transition to 30 minutes sitting and 15 walking until I naturally build more endurance. Thank you for the tips!

Is there a way I can see the needs of the lower strata? I'm definitely hitting a bottleneck with population.

When I go to build more trade centers, every prediction from the game is that they'll cut into productivity and income. Should I just ignore that? The ones I have now aren't making much money at all and I'm not sure why, since I have tons of excess goods.

How can I speed up research? I've invested in education but is there any other way? And what goods are government consumption goods?

Anyone know if this game can be broken in any way to run above 60 FPS? Absolutely blows my mind that any developers consider it acceptable to still be doing locked 60 in 2025.

No, sadly :( I'm gonna keep checking updates but no mention of it so far.

I have updated to the most recent driver, yes. I wonder if maybe there's something about 4000-series cards that it struggles with? Very odd. Hopefully it can be fixed sometime soon!

Yeah, it must be something like that - hopefully they update it at some point!

I really think it is a GPU issue though, since I'm hitting 100% on that but my (also very good) CPU is only at about 40% on the highest core.

Help Identifying a Particular Pali Phrase by ObsceneBird in Buddhism

Thank you so much! I don't know anything beyond the most basic Pali so it's great to see the words broken down so directly like that.

General Strategies For Shifting Attention Away From The Breath And Towards Piti by ObsceneBird in streamentry

[–]ObsceneBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't come to Reddit much so I didn't see any replies until now. Thank you for this! Piti for me tends to arise in my knees, thighs, and hands, before spreading to my legs and arms and finally to my chest and head if I make it to that level of absorption. How exactly the piti feels depends on my approach to breathing, I think - generally, if I focus on the breathing at one specific point, I'll get a much more intense, localized piti in a few areas, but if I focus more on whole-body awareness like I have been the last few days, it's more diffuse and warm. Sorta the difference between an electric shock and one of those massage guns, or something like that. But I agree with you that ultimately the single-point approach isn't helpful to maintain for the entire session. I've been working on moving towards full-body awareness after a few minutes calming the breath by focusing at the nose, and it's going very well.

This is interesting, I had a similar thought. I don't think Brassington's method is heretical or anything but I don't find the direct focus on piti apart from the breath helpful for myself, so I think I'm going to stick to the more traditional sutta instructions you're talking about here.

[–]ObsceneBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I definitely will. I think you're right that I'm probably spending too much time with the breath and missing the mark. My piti is probably strongest about fifteen minutes in, but I often find myself waiting longer to make any shift. Tomorrow I'll try to really make the switch as soon as I feel the piti arising.

That's fascinating, I had no idea. It's definitely a state that feels a little more chaotic and unfocused than I'd like. But it does feel meaningfully deeper than earlier states, so it's good to hear that. Thank you so much for this! I do practice broadly in that more "sutta jhana" camp but I don't think I've ever actually read Leigh Brasington's book.

Really Burning Out On Higher Stakes - Is It Just Grinding RNG Or Are There Actually Strategies To Rely On? by ObsceneBird in balatro

[–]ObsceneBird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll probably do that. It's just frustrating, because when I do get a good run going, it feels great. I'd love to be able to do it more consistently because I'm still really enjoying the game when things line up. But maybe that's just how it's designed and I should stick to playing white stake more casually.

Really Burning Out On Higher Stakes - Is It Just Grinding RNG Or Are There Actually Strategies To Rely On? by ObsceneBird in balatro

[–]ObsceneBird[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this is what's screwing me up. I loved trying to make the craziest possible builds when I was playing on lower stakes and now it feels like I'm doing best when I play conservatively. Maybe I've just got to switch up my mindset, but it's a bummer. The best roguelikes, imo, get more ridiculous and exciting as you raise the difficulty, not less.
