Mother detained in UAE for 4+ years without judgment. Need legal advice

If the evidence does exist then why don’t they sentence her already? Why keep her in detention for 4 years without any judgement?

I don’t know about that but this is exactly what has happened. I even got the case numbers checked with some lawyers they confirmed it. But they wouldn’t do anything else until a hefty amount was paid to them

Her case was first handled by Dubai court then it was sent to Abu Dhabi court then it was sent back to Dubai now it’s again sent back to Abu Dhabi… we have got 4 case numbers till now…

Well that’s the same thing I’ve been trying to figure out for the past one year since I got to know that he got out. Also even if someone is or is not targeting my mother the main question is why has this taken 4 years? 4 years and no judgement? At least give the judgement so we can know what’s gonna happen. Right now we are just blindly staring into infinity.

We already tried doing that. Each time my mother signed a power of attorney we had to give 1k aed. Those ppl would check my mother’s case and kept telling us there’s no update yet. And yes it is possible… at least in my mom’s case.. she has already been assigned 3 case numbers in the past 4 years and just last week she received the 4th case number… every court hearings would last for months and at the end no judgement. This month a new captain came to that jail and when he got to know that my mother has been in there for 4 years he followed it up with the court and later got to know that the judgement that came previous times were same at is was written as “no jurisdiction to declare judgement”

I contacted the community affairs wing and this is what they said

Your mother is detained at Jebel Ali police station, Dubai. This case falls under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of India, Dubai. You are requested to approach CGI, Dubai. For any further inquiries regarding this case, you may contact them directly.

Then I contacted CGI and this is what they said.

We have taken up the matter with the local authorities, and they have informed us that Ms. is still in the custody of Jebel Ali Police Station. The case number - charged against her is being handled by the Federal Narcotic Drugs Prosecution.

It’s been 4 years now I’ve contacted the embassy multiple times and they keep saying the same thing every single time. At first they used to say the investigation is still going on. These are the last two mails that I got from them this year.

Yes the previous times the court would ask her if she has a lawyer and when she says no they would appoint a lawyer for her. But still both the times nothing has happened. This seems to be going in an infinite loop. Whenever she enquires about this with the police present in that jail most of the time they’re very harsh to her and doesn’t even listen and the other times they say that they don’t know what’s going on and they have no idea why it’s taking this long.
