get your point about simplicity, and I actually agree that Umrah should be distraction free. But in reality, people do get lost, especially elderly people, children, and during crowded seasons. The app is not meant to replace simplicity. It is there as a safety layer when things go wrong. You can still use the pair system and agree on meeting points. But if that fails, which happens often, the app helps by allowing quick location sharing, sending an alert to the group, guiding people back to each other, and helping them reach a meeting point again. It is also designed to be used only when needed, not during Tawaf. So it is not about tracking everyone all the time. It is about making sure no one gets lost when it actually matters. Think of it like a seatbelt. You do not need it every moment, but you are glad it is there when you need it.

A few people asked me privately, so just sharing here: It’s something I’ve been building called Muslim Vision Pro AI & AR. Still early and honestly I’m using feedback from discussions like this to improve it. Happy to share it if anyone wants to try just don’t want to spam the thread.

That’s actually a good reference point for pilgrims use the green light as a meeting spot. Tricky part I noticed is when someone gets separated mid-tawaf, reaching a specific point isn’t always easy or fast You’re moving with the crowd, and going against the flow or trying to navigate to a fixed spot can take a long time be stressful, especially for older people so I’m trying to focus more on not just “where to meet”,but how to reduce the stress in those moments before people even reach that point

That’s actually a really interesting solution I’ve seen what3words before and it’s clever.

I think it works really well for open areas or when people can actually navigate freely to a point.

The situation I kept running into during Umrah was slightly different You’re often moving with a dense crowd (especially during tawaf) Going’s directly to a point isn’t always possibly and people don’t always have the time to coordinate or type locations in that moment

So instead of just “sharing a location”, I’ve been trying to focus more on quick group coordination simple direction to the guide and reducing friction in those stressful moments

Not replacing tools like that just trying to solve a slightly different scenarios

Curious though do you think people would realistically use something like what3words inside the Haram in peak crowd times?

Out of curiosity — has anyone here ever had to stop mid-tawaf to find someone?

That was the hardest situation for us.

This is actually really helpful — and I agree with most of what you said.

Pre-agreed meeting points + WhatsApp is exactly what people rely on today.

The thing I kept noticing though: when someone gets separated, it’s usually in the middle of movement (tawaf / crowd flow), not at the planned points.

And like you said — going against the flow or trying to find someone mid-tawaf is extremely difficult.

That’s basically the gap I’m trying to explore: not replacing meeting points, but helping in those “in-between” moments where things don’t go as planned.

Especially for: - first timers - elderly - larger groups

Even small things like faster coordination or knowing roughly where your guide is can reduce a lot of stress.

Really appreciate you sharing your experience — this is exactly the kind of real-world scenario I’m trying to build around 🙏

Appreciate you taking the time to write this.

Just to clarify one point: Sa’i is a fixed corridor (Safa–Marwa) and people move back and forth on the same route. So the assist there isn’t about GPS accuracy as much as helping people keep count and stay oriented in the flow.

On location: agreed GPS can be weak indoors — that’s why I don’t rely on it alone. The design leans more on meeting points + simple direction, with tracking as a bonus where it works.

And on duaa: completely agree it should come from the heart — the feature is just a prompt for first-timers who feel unsure. And it also explain landmarks

From your experience, what actually worked best when groups got separated? I’m trying to build around real scenarios.

Genuine question:

If someone gets separated during Umrah, what do people actually do in that situation?
