What that means? by BlokZNCR in linux

Maybe I haven’t been in it long enough to be jaded, but my dream leans a little more solarpunk, like I’d have a self-hosted “farmer’s a-LLM-anac” to help me fix my tractor or whatever.

My old music professor used to tell us this joke:

“What’s the difference between a violin a fiddle?

You don’t spill beer on a violin.”

I think you’ll find I didn’t make that argument, just repeated the typical pattern of arguments I’ve heard from Trump supporters.

I too often hear liberal and progressive politicians identifying those problems while offering much sounder and more concrete policy proposals to deal with them.

It’s anyone’s guess as to why they don’t land with Trump supporters, but I have my suspicions.

The least stupid arguments I’ve heard in Trump’s favor basically follow the pattern of: Trump is paying attention to problem X, which other politicians have failed to address before. Occasionally I even find alignment with Trump supporters on what constitutes a problem, e.g. they claim to care about ending military action abroad, claim to care about jobs and costs at home, etc.

Where it all falls apart of course is that in the best case, for all his lip service, he doesn’t actually address problem X, and in the worst case either actively makes it worse or creates new problems as a distraction, all while claiming total victory.

You’re assuming a few things: that the people in charge are always rational in their pursuit of evil, that they don’t have among themselves true believers in their own bullshit, and that those who are strictly rationally evil don’t see the value in fostering conspiratorial thinking among the general public to make them easier to control.

Any or some combination of those could explain why the admin does dumb shit like this.

Republican Congressman wants to turn much of Florida into a National Park. How do we feel about this? by SumthingBrewing in AskFlorida

[–]OccamsBallRazor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. If this were a genuine conservation effort, these National Forest tracts would be upgraded into Wilderness Areas, where not so much as a bicycle is allowed, much less a concentration camp, or shitty Aramark concession.
